Wow, great price on this scan tool! Yes, I'm one of those people who brings a scan tool when I go camping lol! Mine's an older "retired" unit I tucked under the truck seat. If I didn't already have it, this would be a good one to get. Happy New Year Jerry!!

Nice to have a no-frills scan tool around. But for just a few more dollars. I got the Autel MaxiAP AP200. I like it because when you buy it you get manufacturer-specific data for one brand. I chose Crysler because we have two minivans floating around. Found we had issues that did not even register on a regular OBD2 scanner. And I purchased the GM brand later for $15

Seems like a great tool. Mine is about 6 yrs old. Mostly identifies codes. Never really understood the freeze frame

The freeze frame tells you what conditions the vehicle was under when the code set. What temp, what RPM, if it was in open or closed loop, how long it was running...etc. HTH ☺

It's what the sensor values were at when the check engine light went on. You might be able to notice one that's out of parameters when looking at the data. Happy New Year PSG :)

No but... you can find a lot of older obd 1 scanners like OTC and the like on Ebay. Folks still want good $ for them but some good deals can be found for sure.

Awesome video! How can I tell if someone did a reset on the codes? I'm gonna go check a used car for my mom.

That's a good question and a serious problem for buyers. Go to the I/M Readiness menu and select it. Look at all the systems. If most of them say "not ready" it probably means the check engine light was reset. There's always other tricks too like removing the bulb. Turn the key to the on position and make sure the check engine light shows before you start the car.

@@spragzpc1 Sorry that is confusing... I'm referring to sellers who have removed the check engine bulb right out of the dash or the ABS warning bulb. I myself took the ABS bulb out of my 96 Chevy Silverado - I'm keeping it forever so... I don't want to mess with the abs stuff all the time to keep that light happy :) Basically beware that some folks pull the warning bulbs but you can test for that by turning the key to the on position and making sure they light up on the dash - you should see a Service Engine Soon warning light, ABS, SRS, etc. If not the guy/gal had them removed.
