Spain was the union of two kingdoms, Castile in the West and Aragon in the East. The former kingdom of Aragon included part of Italy and Greece. A lot of Spanish descendent show in their dna tests Italian/Greece/South Europe admixture. And Iberian Peninsula belonged to the Roman Empire, that's another reason to find Italian dna in Spanish descendent.

In the Balkans and Ukraine, there are a lot of Turkish heritage, especially in Albania (Bulgaria used to have a lot of Turks, but after the Cold War, they came to turkey) In Russia, there is a lot of Finno-Ugric Altaic heritage and also a lot of Asian Mongol heritage. (Makes sense as Finnic peoples are originally from Northern Mongolia)

This is from the admixture from Spaniards (who are already mixed with North African genomes) and North Africans. However, you used the word "Arabs". This is incorrect. The Arab haplogroup (Arabian peninsula) is different from the North African Mahgrebi haplogroup. Even though they are similar, they are different.

Lana Lang the dna test is not precise..it goes only 200-500 years ago The problem is that 500 years ago people mixed a loot You have to go to 3000 years ago. This was the time where race were pure. But its difficult. Costly. And almost impossible to calibrate the test on ancestors of 3000 years ago So they act as if your ancestors of 200-500 years ago is your real dna for the $$$$$$ 😂 and you cant sue them. There is no regulation. They even say that errors are possible & the precision of their test isnt guaranteed

Not to mention through the history of the African continent populations and groups have been mixing over 60,000 years. There is no such thing as purity from a human evolutionary standpoint. The only point in human history where one can argue that is during the very beginning. All variation is nothing more than subset mutations of the founder lineage they come from, hence all human genetic variation in make up come from a single source population if you trace it back either enough. For instance, let's say my cousin went on and populated Europe, while I stayed behind and populated the Near East. My cousin goes on and has children of his own and these children end up giving rise to modern European populations. At the end of the day he is my cousin we are related through the same grand parent. The variation is all related some are downstream mutations passed on from a founder lineage. So the genes you see are basically family oriented. Its a family tree of sorts.

This is very true & you're very smart, but when it comes down to her DNA results, this doesn't weigh up. Current DNA results only go back approx 500 yrs, so she would have had more recent & direct Iberian ancestors. They'd have to have lived within the last 500 yrs. The Visigoths go back way too far, to be directly related to her/her ancestors.

Usually we look the med type, but around 15-20% of us are more central european, while around 5% look kinda jewish/berber. That's so interesting. I've read news a couple of years ago (perhaps in Scientific American) that most "native Americans" came from Mongolia, either walking by the Bering Strait or navigating northward close to the east coast of Asia and then -through Bering- and then southwards the west coast of North America. But population geneticists have also found recently that some, few, "native Americans" also came from Polynesia (navigating eastwards) and located mostly in the Amazon basin.

The DNA tests results are so interesting and honestly changed my perspective on things....I got mine done because my family reunions are so mixed but once I got my results it made sense why. My results were 19% Ivory Coast/Ghana, 16% Nigeria, 15% Great Britain, 12% Southeastern Bantu, 12% Europe West, 9% Benin/Togo, 7% Cameroon/Congo, 3% Senegal, 3%Scandinavia, 2% Polynesia, and trace amounts of Mali, Asia South, Asia Central, and Ireland/Scotland/Wales.....I was pretty surprised by my results.

I'm sorry but she doesn't really look that asian to me. Her facial features aren't asian neither are her eyes that much , she just has epicanthic folds, and that's found in many non Asians plus she wears korean style makeup. The shape is still not that asian. In fact , I can definitely see the black African in her cheekbones , nose , and lips . Theres many Colombian girls who look like her. . She looks nothing like any full blooded asian I've seen , she looks half at best. If you look at her updated DNA video, you would understand what I'm talking about.

My mum and I both did the Ancestry DNA test, roughly 6 months apart. It showed that she has twice as many matches as I do since more English, ScotsIrish and Scandinavians have done the test than have Eastern Europeans (three of those with Eastern European descent who have come up as related/matches to me are two my paternal 2nd cousins and our mutual great-uncle all of whom I have met before )

For Ida.. One possibility for Iberia is that many of the survivors of the 1588 defeat of the Spanish Armada ended up in Ireland/Scotland where there were mixings with Scandanavians

I did my dna too and knew that I am mixed African and Arab (for context I am from Sudan). I came out to be 53% Arab 23% Bantu. A surprise because the current Bantu are in South Africa but apparently originally were in the middle of Africa but were driven to South Africa by wars in the 18th century. So we are related - citizens of the world and descendants of Eve.

One key thing to remember with these test is that they don't test historical dna records since we don't have that kind of data. It's testing against everyone else who participates in the testing now. It doesn't really tell you were you come from but more about where in the world right now there are people with these DNA matches. This need to know type questions can't really be answered without also getting to know your family tree through historical record. People moved around so much and countries have changed hands so often that people are mixed up.

Mine would most likely be mainly Dutch and Scandinavian (Norway/Denmark/Sweden), But thinking about what I may have in me, there may be some British, Greek or Persian in me to a minor extent. I never tested though. Just based up on the family tree and history regarding those areas and other knowledge that may add me to those lesser regions

I took the Ancestry DNA test as well, and was quite surprised, though I guess I shouldn't be. I've been the family genealogist for over 40 years, and we are all over the map of Europe, as we have royal ancestry. I was 100% European, not a big surprise, as my Jewish ancestry was too far back to register on a DNA test. I tested at 89% English!! It was the only high confidence area, with Wales and Northwestern Europe being low-confidence areas, and those low confidence areas there is no record in the past 6 generations from there. The other 11% was Irish and Scottish. Ireland and the Western Isles of Scotland were the high confidence areas. That makes sense, as I had a third great-grandfather from Ireland, and a third great-grandmother from Scotland, clan MacLeod, which is the Western Isles! I am more English than many people in the United Kingdom! Life is strange!

It did zero in on Colombia in the map picture for Native American tho; like you said and i have heard genealogists say, people who are Latin American often have a mix of Native American (bc obviously they have inhabited all of the Americas), Spanish, and sometimes African. So i think it still said you are mostly Colombian. I also think 23andme has more specific results but some people said that AncestryDNA has been updated too, all around super fascinating. I didn't expect it to zero in on a region like that.
