In contrast to some commentators, I had no difficulty understanding this presentation, whereas American English usually resists my neurons! I especially enjoyed the content. The problem of improving (or adapting) one's gut microbiota is too often simplified, leading to one-size-fits-all and ineffective solutions. You have both shown the complexity of this issue and suggested practical solutions to manage it. Thank you for this presentation!

What a great presentation - thank you Lucy. I feel inspired to focus more on re-wilding my gut now, especially the nature part. All those other reductionistic interventions did so much more harm than good for me - like probiotics, antimicrobial and higher fiber intake. (and btw it's totally okay to be a bit nervous, I properly would be too. I loved your smile and presence.)

THanks. BTW, I heard Erica Sonnenburg of the Stanford Sonnenburg Lab in a late 2020 talk discuss a study which showed that regular consumption of fermented foods significantly increased the diversity of gut microbiome and reduced a full range of inflammatory markers.

Fantastic show! You may want to rethink the idea of "remove human influence" as a key good in ecosystem renewal. What you mean is "remove modern western human extractive/destructive activity". Indigenous ways of living in and with ecosystems have been shown to be positive contributors to diversity and ecosystem health. Check out the research done by Robin Wall-Kimmerer, for example, on the impact of traditional harvesting of sweetgrass, or the selective culling and use of certain tree species by basket-weaving communities.

Interesting that she is talking about reducing anxiety, yet her voice, repeated swallowing and ums and ers indicate that she is incredibly anxious giving this talk.

Learning to stand up and talk in front of a large audience is an extremely stressful situation. Especially if you are an introvert, which a lot of people who go into science are. Anyone not use to it will be anxious even if they are not normally so. It is like saving she should not be anxious is she suddenly encountered a bear, because her diet should fix that. I have run into bears, more than once, and would rather run into another than have to talk in front of a large audience.

Easy to critique from the stands. Where's your AHS talk? I'd love to evaluate it. She's out there trying to make the world better. What are you up to?

This is a very interesting topic-but may i suggest that you get some training on how to speak? Your stuttering and shaking in your voice makes it impossible to listen to this speech.... (No offense.....you clearly have all the knowledge, but clearly need a bit of practice on how to deliver this knowledge...)

This is standard new presenter nervous speech. I recognize it from when I did such presentations. Need to learn to slow down the pace a bit.
