Our Fantasy RV Tour to Alaska continues as we make our make our way to Anchorage. There were no big excursions in Anchorage, so we used this stop as an opportunity to recharge a little bit and prepare for Denali.
However, we did have a couple events here in Anchorage that were very special. Our Group Leaders prepared some of the Halibut we caught while we were in Homer as a way to celebrate everyone's birthday, anniversary, or any other special event that happened in our lives. The food was DELICIOUS!
We also went out to a fine restaurant called Simon & Seafort's with our friends and fellow travelers; Tommy, Ron, Wayne & Margaret. Tommy had been to this restaurant in the past and said it was one of the best. He was spot on! The food and drinks were AMAZING!
We also stopped at the ULU knife factory and store. We walked out of there with knives for the entire family.
After a couple days in Anchorage we headed to Denali. The first night we enjoyed a dinner show at Cabin Night Theater. The cast did double-duty as they served us our delicious meal before putting on a very entertaining performance.
The next day we boarded a coach for a guided tour of Denali National Park. The scenery was spectacular. However, the wildlife that we expected to see was a little scarce during our trip which lasted several hours. The tour guide located most of the wildlife off in the distance , and then used a camera to zoom in on the creature to display on the multiple monitors throughout the coach.
When we signed up for this trip with Fantasy RV Tours, one of the excursions I was most excited about was Rafting the Nenana River. The excursion company, Denali Raft Adventures, was located right next to our campground which made it rather convenient to get ourselves outfitted in dry suits and life jackets before boarding the bus that took us to our launch site. After a few instructions on the shoreline, we loaded into our raft and headed down stream. Our rafting guide's name was Tom. He was not only great at navigating the raft, he was also an extremely funny guy, making our 2 hour trip even more enjoyable.
Our next day in Denali was a free day. So Lynn and I scouted out the area and found a small lake to do some paddle boarding. The water was calm and peaceful, and the view of the mountains surrounding us made this experience spectacular.
Someone in our group found a nearby excursion company, Denali ATV Adventures, that gave tours through Denali with side-by-sides. Once we learned about this opportunity we quickly signed up for the excursion they referred to as the "Midnight Sunset." I wish I had taken the GoPro with me but the pictures that were taken tell the story.
We had a great time in Denali! In our next video, we head to Fairbanks, followed by a second visit to Tok, and then a stop in Destruction Bay.
THANKS FOR WATCHING!
