My family moved to Juneau in 1963. My dad was sent there by the newspaper chain he worked for to work there a couple of years, managing the (then) Daily Alaska Empire newspaper and fixing their finances. He was already there when the rest of my family flew into Juneau from Seattle on a Pan American Boeing 707. The five of us were the only passengers served by a full crew. We still have the home movies my dad took of the plane arriving. While living there for two years, we flew on Coastal Ellis amphibious planes and Pacific Northern 720s to Seattle. Juneau was a wonderful little town with lots of boating, fishing and hiking. Good times.
