That looks like a very nice place. It is not to crowded when you are walking around. My kind of place. Looks like there were more people moored then on land.

V-22 Osprey, when I was working in Torrance last summer I was working on a development program for that air frame. Love the sail before sunset folks too.

I'm loving your videos like the K40 delivery I've been sailing since I was a kid but never been to Catalina. I've been chartering through Marina Sailing and am taking a Catalina 34 out to Catalina from Redondo Beach next Monday Aug 27. I've been watching videos and have my trusty Cruising Guide. I was looking at the different anchorages and coves like emerald bay, the isthmus and such. I'm thinking of picking up a mooring just cuz I've never done it before. Your video came at a good time and I appreciate your work.

Hey Steve, we are huge followers of James and Camille and Mr. Steady. Also know Tom and the First Mate from Sail before Sunset. You will love the island. Not going to preach but if you have never caught a mooring, due some research before hand cuz if you are single handing it can get ugly. Dont bring the wand up on deck until you are secure! Seen people rip off hand rails, pulpits by the wand catching when they blew the pickup. Dont be afraid to ask for assistance. We recently made our 28th trip to our beloved island and have made every baffoon mistake possible. Emerald Bay is beautiful but be prepared to sleep in a washing machine! We hope to catch Tritea over there for sure. They are half our age and we dont have any body art, but we have all the other stuff! Cheers

@@pscruising5486 thanks for the tip. I will have an able crew person with me and I have been doing research. I'm from San Diego but have recently been sailing out of Newport and Redondo because I have grown quite fond of chartering with marina sailing - have access to different boats and different marinas and my favorite crew person lives in Irvine. I will definitely ask for assistance from harbor patrol with mooring. I'm looking at cherry cove just a bit north of isthmus because I would like calm and quiet. Appreciate any other tips of wisdom

@@cleanhabitats Steve, as a matter of fact we are headed there on or about the same day as you. Sailing out of San Diego. We might try Cherry also, it is not necessarily calmer but it less windy when the Ithmus Breeze comes in. We might make a stop off in Descanso so we can say hello to our Doctor friend in Avalon. Our boat is a Hunter 420 Passage. s/v Smithzonian. Stop by for a cold one. Also, if you can get a dingy to drag, it will save you alot of headaches. Cheers

@@pscruising5486 Another point on Emerald bay: you're likely to find more of a current when you are picking up mooring. The harbor patrol guys are super helpful... ask them for an assist if you think you might need it. They do this all the time. I have a couple of vids of mooring at Emerald Bay on my channel.

Looks a lot like South Australia. With the dry country right to the water, the eucalyptus (gum) trees and red soil. By the way Steady looks like a Blue Heeler which is an Australian cattle dog. Can`t tell where I am from I`ll bet.

It’s actually .55 land miles from dingy dock to dinghy dock but on a hot day it definitely feels like a mile.

Good Nz morning guys. Not sure if I'm repeating myself, but first i heard of Catalina Island was back in 1958 when "The Four Preps" sang about it. Santa Catalina. ..The Isle of Love. Yup showing my age. As you 2 take us around the island, I can see an attraction to it. I never get tired of seeing it. Thank you guys. By the way Camille, please don't treat this as a personal question, more like a curiosity question. Do you have links by way of heritage, to Maori or Pacific Islanders.? Certain mannerisms you show would suggest that. However you've invited comments related to your adventures. Love the content. Always look forward each week to your channel. Take care and stay safe my friends. Cya next time.

Hi Bryan, no actually. My heritage is very mixed (Syrian, German, French, Ukrainian, Native American and other things) ...curious, what are the mannerisms you’re referring to?
@bryanbadger6841
@bryanbadger6841 4 жыл бұрын
@@camilleschefter1343 hi Camille. Thankyou for your response. Was expecting that question, but hoping not to receive it. It's hard to describe a mannerism in writing. But I'll try. As a kiwi i have many Maori friends and most do this. When you look at James from a side position or even around your surroundings while on camera, your eyes move first. And then your head. Actually Camille it's easier if i show you...when this craziness is over....I'd love it if you guys could plan to sail down here. You can use my car, to see the beautiful South Island where i live....and I can also show you what manmerism I 'm referring to. However unfortunately our borders are closed. There will come a time when they will open. Eventually.!! And there's also a few Nz beers you can review for your channel. What are the chances.?? In the meantime,..here's to the future. Phew.!! Sorry James and Camille. A long comment. Take care and stay safe.
