Over the last week, there has been multiple news articles recently published about Must Farm in Cambridgeshire, often referencing it as 'Britain's own Pompeii.'
This may be due to the fact that the site suddenly burned down in around 800BC. The fact that the historical site stood within the Fenlands meant that its secrets were kept preserved in the peat soil for almost 3,000 years, similar to how Pompeii was also miraculously kept preserved under the volcanic ash.
Enjoy!

It seems time and time again ancient cultures end up to be more advanced than originally thought.

had a feeling you might cover this one, how thrilling is this discovery! The age of these settlements boggles my mind, and to think they could have been in use in saxon times too, and i know its a little out of their area, but finding a horde of iceni gold would literally finish me off, you never know, one can hope, maybe some roman soldier stole gold and silver. iceni units and bling, buried them then died next day, you just never know! What else lays beneath these peat covered fens? cannot wait to find out!

Well there is undoubtedly a plethora of settlements still left untouched, that's for sure. An iron age horde of gold was found not too far away at Snettisham so gold hordes were certainly found near this site. I think the area of Flag Fen and Must Farm would be more within the borders of the Trinovantes tribe instead of the Iceni!
