Another face recreation project focusing on ancient Egypt on some of its pharaohs and even normal people. This was done with the effort by observing the statues and separating myths, misconceptions from reality.

@Kimberly Combs Aristotole, Herodotus, an Hippcrates never said that. Kemet means the fertile soil around nille, your artifacts are photoshopped, or they could be showing Nubians, and still, there are many depicting them just like modern Egyptians look like, 3 paintings with 5 black people dont mean anything, Egypt was multicultural, the fact that life began in Africa doesnt mean anything, beacuse for all we may know, they could migrate from africa to middle east, and then back to Africa, Nabta Playa was a couple thousand years older than the Egyptian civilisation, Nawada I, II and III, Badarian and Nabta Playa dont mean anything, there arent even any depictions that arent symbolic, the naqada artefacts have completely black sticks as people, who dont even have faces, so I doubt it was a realistic representation, and also all of your dna genetics are outdated (Cheikh Anta Diop melanin test), are not per reviewed (Cheikh Anta Diop melanin test, and S.O.Y Keita work) and also have flawed methodology, such as using STR's instead of using the right form, SNP's (DNAtribes amarna mummies, and also S.O.Y Keitas "discovery"), hair doesnt mean anything about skin colour, for all we know it could have been an inspiration from tribes south from them. And also, Im sorry to break your bubble, but Egypt is in Northeastern Africa, and African Americans were transported as slaves from West Africa, which is thousands of kilometers away from the north east. So even if Egyptians were black, they would have nothing to do with African Americans genetically speaking. All black people in different regions are different people genetically speaking, and the only thing they have in common is their melanin. Sorry.

Always amazed me how much is going on in the statue of the seated scribe. You can infer a lot from his expression and posture. He looks really relaxed, like he and the sculptor were good friends. His shoulders are posed, but not held rigid, and the hands are like he's looking up after a pause in writing a good idea. The Egyptians ate pretty well by ancient standards, but I expect our friend here also had a taste for dates and honey. 🙂 Then looking at the face: This fellow had a bright personality I think, that's a face that smiles a lot. Probably loves his job because it gives him the chance to chatterbox with everyone in the area as they come to him for field counts, documents, spells, etc. I'd expect he's a teacher too, to everyone. Every farmers kid for miles will learn how to make toy boats from reeds from him, and the adults get a stream of silly puns and jokes. This scribe was well liked by his community, a good person I think, and the artist who made the statue was amazing at his craft.

I’m Egyptian and I have a message for all those “hoteps” complaining about the skin color: North-Africa has always been a diverse region, thanks to the Mediterranean Sea and the Saharan Desert. Not to add that Egypt is also a transcontinental (north-African/west-Asian) and Middle-Eastern country. We’re not talking about a country in deeper Sub-Saharan Africa, but to a country that sits right next to the continent of Eurasia. Peace! ✌🏽
@wewenang51673 жыл бұрын
yup most of north African are brown skin people. I dont get it why some black supremacist argue that ancient Egyptian is black skin when the murals all over ancient tomb literally draw them as brown , even the statues and bust of most of the royals were brown and yes the color is still there even after thousands of years because they were sealed in a tomb, Besides ancient Egyptian were not color blind , they know the different between black and brown. They depicted the Nubian as black skin, the Arabs, Greek and Phoenician as white skin IN THEIR MURALS. So there is ample evidence of the ancient Egyptian skin colors. It's not a mystery at all.

there's inevitably going to be some controversy about this, but fortunately there is dna from all these well preserved mummies. As scientific understanding about what genes cause your skin tone increases, it will surely just be a matter of time before these ancient peoples skin tone can be determined from the dna. There won't need to be any controversy then, it'll just be case of putting the data into a formula and seeing what answer comes out.
@MammaKush883 жыл бұрын
Egypt was a diverse country. Some of the people were darker, some where lighter. At different points in time, there were people with more sub Sarahan dna ruling and being the majority and then there were times when lighter more mixed people ruled and were the majority. Most countries and regions of the world have the exact same story. Egypt isnt special in that regard. And north Africa today is mostly affected by the Barbary trade so that also contributes to the current skin tone. There were blk pharoahs, there were brown pharoahs, and their were white pharoahs. And all of that is beautiful.

@Kimberly Combs not unesco nor Herodotus never said Egyptians were blk..stop lying.. Egyptians greatly differentiated their features and skin colour from subsaharran features..look at king tut sandals...stop that
@majidtaha7268 Жыл бұрын
@Kimberly Combs 1- Herodotus said the Egyptians look like the Colchians (modern day Abkhazians in Georgia), so if the ancient Egyptians were black, why did Herodotus say they look like the Abkhazians (Caucasian people)? Reference: Herodotus book 2 chapter 104 2- Herodotus (The histories 6.53.2): "if the king's ancestors in each generation, from Danae daughter of Acrisius upward, be reckoned, then the leaders of the Dorians will be shown to be true-born Egyptians." --> as you can see the ancient Egyptians looked like other Mediterranean people that's why Herodotus described a Greek leader as an Egyptian. 3- Herodotus used "μελάγχρους" to describe the ancient Egyptians' skin and "οὐλότριχες" for the hair texture. According to the "A Greek-English Lexicon" dictionary:- μελάγχρους = tanned "swarthy" οὐλότριχες = curly These descriptions perfectly match the Egyptian mummies, the wall paintings and modern Egyptians too. Diogenes Laertius (Lives of Eminent Philosophers Book 7, Ch 1):- used the same term (swarthy "μελάγχρους") to describe a native Cypriot man "Zeno, the son of Mnaseas (or Demeas), was a native of Citium in Cyprus, a Greek city which had received Phoenician settlers. He had a wry neck, says Timotheus of Athens in his book On Lives. Moreover, Apollonius of Tyre says he was lean, fairly tall, and swarthy--hence some one called him an Egyptian" Plutarch (Aratus, 18.2) & (Aratus B20.1):- The greek philosopher here described a Syrian man with the same description Herodotus used for the Egyptians denoting a fact that the Egyptians looked similar to the levantines. Homer (The Odyssey B16, Ch175):- He used "μελαγχροιὴς" to describe Odysseus appearance after Athena restored his youth. So basically the Egyptians, Greeks, Cypriots, Georgins and Syrians were all described with the same term. If you want to prove the ancient Egyptians were blaⲥⲕ, you will have to prove the others were blaⲥⲕ as well (I am waiting for a proof that the people of the caucasus were blaⲥⲕ) good luck with that..

@Kimberly Combs The ancient Egyptians weren't ethnically black. There were some black for sure but most were brown. This has been proven genetically. I've been to Egypt and seen their wall paintings: some of the people portrayed were black, some brown - I think they would know what skin colour they were and know the difference between who was black and who was brown.

Egypt is a white civilization. This is a reality. Otherwise, why would we not see that civilization in South Africa, for example? Yes, there are pictures of some pharaohs in black, but there are also thousands of pictures of white pharaohs, and this is a natural thing in a country that used to form people of different colors, such as the Arabs today, and even the English are no longer white. You find English or Arab black, colored, brown and blond. The wisdom of most of Africa and the Middle East

Part 1 ----------------- I am Egyptian and i want to say that if you want the fact please read , Because of the stealers of history and civilizations who claim that the current Egyptian people are not the heirs of the ancient Egyptians, and rumors of this kind, which unfortunately some of us believe ... Recent scientific studies on DNA, anthropometric measurement (measuring the dimensions of the human body), eye, hair, skin, and teeth measurements ... etc. It became clear that despite all the occupations and foreign migrations to Egypt throughout history, the vast majority of Egyptians today retain the same genetic traits as the ancient Egyptians. The greatest credit for the results was that of the ancient Egyptian mummies, which preferred to preserve the genetic traits of the ancient Egyptians for thousands of years, as if it were a complete anthropological museum standing as a wall against any attempt to spread any fairy stories about the origins of the Egyptians. It is possible to summarize the detailed results of these studies in the following lines: (Studies and references are available at the end of the article) 1- The vast majority of the current Egyptians, at least (77.3%), carry the same genetic characteristics as the ancient Egyptians. 2- As for the genetic traits belonging to the peoples of the Near East, their percentage is about (10.3%), and they are divided into two groups: The first group: a group (Arabs - Jews - Turks - Kurds - Iran - Iraq - Jordan - Palestine - Syria - Lebanon ... etc.), so its percentage (combined) among the Egyptian people, despite all immigration and invasions, is not more than (5.2%) This confirms the words of al-Maqrizi, who lived at the time of the rule of the Mamluks (the one who was not Arabs) and died in 1422 CE in his book “The Statement and the Expression of the Arabs in the Land of Egypt,” when he said: "Know that the Arabs who witnessed the conquest of Egypt were wiped out by time and the conditions of most of their wake were ignored, and remnants of the Arabs have remained in the land of Egypt" (meaning the Arab tribes currently in Egypt) And the second group (southern Europe, Greece - Turkey ... etc.), its percentage is about (5.1%) 3- As for the European genetic traits (Western Europe - Italy "the Romans" - the French - the English ... etc.), their percentage is about (5.5%) ... and the remaining percentage (6.9%) is distributed on different genetic traits from different origins with no specific origin ... meaning they are present all over the world, but their origin is not known. Below is an illustration picture 4 - The distribution of blood groups in Egypt in the current era shows that the population groups are completely homogeneous, and there are no statistically significant differences between Muslims and Christians, comparative examinations of the head and body measurements (skin - hair - eyes - teeth ... etc.) always reach identical results 5- The first Egyptians were in their land from the Pleistocene era - about 15,000 years ago, (To a very large degree) influenced by invasions or migrations ... the Egyptians are the Egyptians, as they were thousands of years ago 6- The basic genotypes of the Egyptians from thousands of years until today are all African 7- Egypt, by virtue of its geography that has left it naturally isolated, was able to establish and solidify a basic genetic anthropological basis that lasted for thousands of years without any change or being influenced by any foreign peoples (and this is evident in all the drawings, mummies and statues throughout the period of the ancient Egyptian civilization .. and is evident in the results of all recent research and studies Of the genetic traits of the present-day Egyptians) 8- Thus this basic basis (which was at least 4500 years before Christianity ... and 5000 years before Islam) was present and took its final and distinctive form before the existence of Muslims, Christians or others, and it is sufficient because it fuses into its atmosphere any genetic traits expatriate in any subsequent stage as a result Conquest or migration, especially since the migrations that took place in Egypt, the most famous of which are the migrations of the Arab tribes, were always in negligible numbers compared to the numbers of the original Egyptians 9 - The genetic traits that may appear strange to the Egyptians, such as white skin, smooth hair, and moderate size of the nose, not new traits for Egyptians .. These traits have already existed for thousands of years .. I mean, they do not necessarily have to be the result of intermarriage with other peoples .. And we will encounter many Among these characteristics are found in dozens of statues and mummies that are still present until today, including examples: 10- The tribes in Egypt are not only from the Arabian Peninsula, but also from the Berbers (Libya - Morocco - Tunisia) who came to Egypt at the time of the Fatimid state and returned again in greater numbers in the 18th century and concentrated in the Western Sahara, so that some scholars believe that there are more Bedouins. Egypt is one of the Moroccans, not one of the Arabs of the Peninsula other than the Nubians who recently arrived in Egypt 11 - In some studies, the percentage of retaining the same genetic characteristics for the ancient Egyptians reached 90%. ^ Frank Yurco, "An Egyptological Review" in Mary R. Lefkowitz and Guy MacLean Rogers, eds. Black Athena Revisited. Chapel Hill: University of North Carolina Press, 1996. p. 62-100 --------------- Scientific certificates: The scientist "Stephen Kuhn", a natural anthropologist, says in his book "The Races of Europe": "Ancient Egypt must remain the most prominent example known in history and until now of a naturally isolated region in which the types of indigenous local nationalities were allowed to go on their way for several thousand years without being affected at all by foreign contacts." The words of "Cosmos" are confirmed by the well-known scientist and archaeological researcher "Broderick" in his book "The Tree of Human History" and he says: "It is clear, throughout the last six thousand years or more, that there has not been any noticeable change in the appearance of all Egyptians. The barbarians, the people of the first and second Naqada civilizations, the Egyptians of the families, and the peasants we see working in the fields today are all of the same basic average pattern." As for the anthropologist and expert in anatomy, Arthur Keith, in his book 'A New Theory of Human Evolution', he confirms the genetic continuity of the Egyptians and says: "The peasants that we see forming the body of the nation today are the direct descendants of the peasants in the year 3300 BC." And he also says: Egyptians are not only a nation, the oldest political nation in history, but they are also a gender in every sense of the word. But there is no such thing as sexual purity in general. Rather, we cannot go so far as to say that there is no people, no matter how isolated or isolated, except when they are mixed One degree or another ... and if the Egyptian sexual pattern has been characterized by stability, no doubt. " As for the Egyptian scholar, Solomon Sad, in his book (History of Egyptian Civilization: The Pharaonic Era), he concluded with the same results and says: "The Arab tribes that migrated in the Arab era to the Lower Nile Valley did not lead to any change in the general composition of the Egyptians as a result of the successive waves of Arabs." And in the book “The Arab Tribes in Egypt in the First Three Centuries of Hijra” by Dr. Abdullah Khurshid al-Bari, in which the Arab strains were monitored before the Arab conquest of Egypt until today, in detail with their genealogies, origins and branches .. so he confirms the same results and says: The general composition of Egyptians has not changed due to the small number of Arabs coming to the total of the Egyptian people .. And this phenomenon we observe in all stages of Egypt's history. Many different races flocked to the Egyptians and mixed with the Egyptians bloody mingling without this changing the characteristics of the Egyptians nationality, because these The immigrants were only successful in replenishing the blood of the Egyptians without changing it, as the people did not wait until they were digested and assimilated, and that was one of the factors that the Egyptians kept their vitality through the ages. As for the Egyptian biologist and thinker, Hussein Fawzi, he says in his book 'Sinbad Masri': That one remaining race. And the Egyptian, who was isolated in its fertile valley in the midst of the desert, the plateaus, the mountains and the seas, has preserved its ethnographic character, mostly unblemished, to this day. And the peoples that came upon Egypt, or settled in it and lived with its people and mixed with them, were no more than Drops of water in the midst of a pure Egyptian mankind. As for Gamal Hamdan, in his book The Character of Egypt, he says: "Egypt has not been subjected primarily to human migrations but to military invasions. It is limited to a purely male movement and therefore melts if it does not appear." "And despite the large numbers that poured out of the Arabs in Egypt, and despite the long-term mixing that took place with the Egyptians, this did not change the basic composition of the body or blood of the population." It is amazing to see the "real face" of Pharaoh Akhenaton. Akhenaton was a genius before his time. Although inbreeding by his family may have magnified his physical problems, inbreeding could also greatly magnified his intellect. Akhenaton abolished the worship of the old polytheistic Egyptian gods, and mandated the worship of only one god, the Aton. Besides opting for religious monotheism, Akhenaton revolutionized Egyptian art and architecture. He changed their rigid art and claustrophobic architecture to a more realistic art form and open architecture. He was damned as a"heretic' by future pharaohs, his art destroyed and his temples to the Aton torn down. However, the discovery of his son's tomb in the 1920s, the pharaoh Tutankhaton, did gain some of the fame that Akhenaton deserved. Akhenaton was one of the top 5 unique individuals in all of human history.

@Courtney Green The blackening seen in mummies is due to the mummification process and the bodies being thousands of years old. The stored cadavers we use for dissection at my university all belong to white people (I study in the EU) and are barely a few years old, yet they're all very darkened. As North Africans, Egyptians are closely related to blacks but by no means were they the same race. North Africans, including Egyptians, have high genetic diversity, which means their appearances vary, ranging from very dark, to almost white. Kinky hair may or may not be observed regardless of skin tone. Most Egyptian mummies actually do not have this feature. Take Ramesses II, for example.

Im very cutious to kow how you recreated these faces from the statues? Is this just your interpretation? Honestly Nefertiti & theSeated scriber were similar in facial appearnce but i found the other two to be slightly off. Also, why did you whiten Nefertiti & the scribers skin? They were clearly darker in their statues and you made them pale, why?

Great work! Just a hint regarding the relation between Akhenaten and Tutankhamun: Do we have any proof at all, that Tut was the biological son of Akhenaten? I don't think so...
@mrsbaetaeass61652 жыл бұрын
Tut was the grandson of the great pharaoh Amenhotep III and it is believed he was the son of akhenaten who married his half sister who was nefertiti's daughter
@MarcusRobbin2 жыл бұрын
@@mrsbaetaeass6165 "It is believed!", but we don't have any proof. He could also have been the son of one of Akhenaten's brothers. The remains of Tut's genitors have been found and genetically confirmed: It's the skull of KV55 and the mummy of the "younger lady". But to assume, that KV55 was Akhenaten's skull, is pure guess.
@Paul-uc8qj2 жыл бұрын
Yes, he was. At Hermopolis, a fragment of a stone inscription was unburied that read that Tutankhaton was the "son of the Pharaoh's loins". This is the ancient Egyptian way of saying that Tutankhaton was the biological son if Ankhenaton. DNA test conducted by the Egyptians have confirmed that Tutankhaton was indeed the biological son of Ankhenaton.
