Let us pause for a minute to acknowledge how fiendishly difficult it is to learn Ancient Greek and how impressed we all should be at how well prof keil knows the language. I am agog with admiration at his erudition.

Did you record all of these lectures? I'm finding them quite enlightening and enjoyable, but I only see lectures 1, 2, 4, and 12 on your channel. I'm sure many would appreciate the full series if you have it! Either way, thank you for these!

Thank you, Tony! There are some very large lacunae in this series, but I will try to fill them in as soon as possible. Thank you for your interest! I am extremely touched

@@matthewadamkeil ... I've always thought the large lacunae eat too much.,... and the miniatures are far too expensive!,...and there's that "hip dysplasia" problem that seems to plague the small ones so badly. There are so many amateurs breeding lacunae that can fit in their owner's purse that they are ruining the breed!,...P.S. I suggest you fill them in with fresh, lean beef only.,...that well-known, widely-used brand of canned stuff only makes them constipated & gives them gas.,...and we all know how funky & nasty lacunae gas can be.🤨

Were the Pigmen different from the Swinemen?

Yes, actually 🤣. Herodotus gives the terms for them. I'll look it up and get back to you with the original Greek terms

This anecdote is found in Herodotus Book Five, Chapter 68: "For he [Cleisthenes] called his own tribe Archelaioi, or Rulers, while the others he named Hyatae, or pigmen, Onetae, or Donkeymen, and Choereatae, or Swinemen."

Thanks for taking the time to look into that; I always thought pig and swine were the same thing. For the record, I'm an ass-man.

I cant even begin to imagine all the work this Professor must of done to be able to bring this information to us thank you. The ancients Greeks themselves said they got a lot from ancient Kemet there great thinkers all received there formal education in Kemet Pythagoras, Socrates, Plato. Again this is what they themselves said well before all the special interests started creating a history to serve there purposes. It's interesting to hear how Herodotus speaks of black Africans he basically says that there the best and brightest thus surely the most beloved of god. The idea that ancient Greece started from scratch was created later as it was deemed unacceptable for such knowledge to come from black Africans. I'm mainly making this point because I feel it should be more well known as ancient Kemet should get more credit for all things they passed on to the ancient greeks which intern had such influence on the west and all humanity in general.
