I recently finished listening to the acclaimed History of Rome podcast & wanted to find a similarly-detailed series about ancient Greece, which is how I stumbled upon this hidden gem. These lectures are fantastic and it's a crime that they don't have more views! Looking forward to your other series once I've finished this one.

Thank you, Drew! Very kind of you, and thank you for your support. I'm not really much of a tech person, and I don't do social media, so I can't really share these videos there, but if you would like to, I would really appreciate it. Thank you again

Thank you, Dean! I never made it that far North in my travels in England, but perhaps one day. I am very pleased though that you are enjoying these talks. I'll hopefully be adding a lot more as time goes on.

I assume it is difficult to have precise demographics but obviously nobody would expect the spartan population to be numerous, with that life practices you describe that they had. And of course that kind of society can not go on for ever, since at some point technical evolution in weapons and other means would catch up with them.

Very good points, Dimitrios. It's true, and essentially by the time one gets to the Roman period, Sparta had become for all intents and purposes a museum where Romans could go to see a sort of historical reenactment of things that they had read about in school, kind of like Williamsburg, Virginia here in America.
