I'm sitting here learning the first declension thinking Greek is easy, but then I look ahead in the series at the third declension! Scary stuff! Can't wait to get into it. Thanks again for the lessons.
@LearnAncientGreekАй бұрын
The third declension isn't as scary as I have made it look with so many videos on it! Although there are eight different subgroups within it, there is a lot of overlap between them and this makes it a lot easier (than it would be otherwise) to learn how nouns in each of the subgroups decline. You will see this when you watch those videos, although if you have any questions, please ask them in the comments and I should be able to help :) You're welcome; thank you for your comment!

Single-handedly teaching me Greek. So much easier listen to you explain it than a book 🙂

Thanks for your excellent and helpful video! And I noticed that you only put a circumflex on "ων" in 1c nouns Genitive Plural form. Does it mean something? Maybe I forget something I 've been taught before.😣
@LearnAncientGreek10 сағат бұрын
@@richard_yuc You’re welcome! That was just an accidental inclusion on my part, sorry! I didn’t mean to put it there, but it would in fact be there in an actual Ancient Greek text. All of the genitive plural forms in the first declension have a circumflex above that omega in actual Greek, however, I have generally omitted accents from my course because you do not need to learn the system of accentuation in order to be able to translate Greek successfully, and that system can be daunting and distracting when learning Greek, especially when beginning to learn Greek. And I myself have not learned the system of accentuation. So you haven’t forgotten anything, don’t worry! :) I just included the circumflex by mistake. Keep up the good work with the Greek and thanks for spotting that accidentally-included circumflex!

Hello. I have found that these videos have been extremely useful and have sparked my passion for ancient Greek. However, now I am left eagerly waiting for your next video to come out, without much to study. Other than the JACT's reading Greek course which you have mentioned, are there any other books, courses and or online series which you can recommend? Once again, thank you so much :)
@LearnAncientGreek5 ай бұрын
@@theodoremccomiskey5232 Hi, I am really pleased to hear that! Good question. Another series of coursebooks that may be useful to you is “Greek to GCSE” by John Taylor. Although it is designed with the GCSE course in mind (as the title suggests), it is certainly useful for learning Greek from the beginning regardless, and the book that follows those coursebooks - “Greek Beyond GCSE” - is useful for learning more advanced Greek. But as you indicated, my personal favourite is JACT’s “Reading Greek”. I hope that this helps? I should also note that from next Saturday onwards, I shall be releasing a lesson every Saturday, so hopefully that will give you some more to study :) Thank you for your incredibly kind comment and keep up the good work!

When picture freezes, the sound volume gets lower.

@@fwboring802 Thank you for letting me know. It can be tricky to match the sound level of those clips to the rest of the video using my editing software; I shall work on ensuring that they are a similar volume in the future :)

Is this attic or koine?
@LearnAncientGreek5 ай бұрын
It is the Attic dialect of Classical Greek. The grammar presented here still applies to Koine though :)
