Just wanted to say thank you to everyone for all your great comments after we uploaded the last video on the letter hey and saying how much you love and miss these videos and we really appreciate it. It has been a very busy year and wasn't able to work on any videos, but I'm making up for it now LOL. Lesson number 7 (Zayin) and 8 (Hhet) are almost complete and should be uploaded over the next week.

A point on the meaning of Wa / Vav. It takes 3 axes in 1 : submission, assignation, conjonction. The letter Wa is the letter Servant by excellence. This letter show Disposal, possibilities when it enter in noun action. This letter is also a grammar tool to express passive voice, again "servitude".

My husband and I really love your teachings and purchased your Lexicon. In this video you quoted Prov 1:28 - Vazar and I had trouble finding this word but finally I tracked it down to Prov 21:8. Not sure if you want to correct this reference in your video. Thanks for all your great work. Shalom

Thank you Nel. I can't correct the video, but I have noted this in the comments of the video. Did you notice that the error was verse 1:28, which is at the 1:28 mark of the video? What a coincidence :-)

Presumptive? Yes. Personal Bias? No way. I have no desire to force any pronunciation of any letter. I just let the chips fall where they may and then adapt my theology/doctrine/pronunciation accordingly. If someone can provide me better evidence for a "v" pronunciation, I'd accept it gladly. The bottom line is we really have no proof of any pronunciation, that is until we discover Moses' tape recorder :-)

You mean you haven't found Moses media audio file yet? Lol..I think your work is a good start. It is helping me to learn Hebrew and understand the construction of it.

welcome back brother. When I get asked for proof or challenged, I have some happy pushbacks. "best guess" " It's what I want to believe" "Yahweh can speak for himself, he doesn't really need me to do it" "you can go look for yourself" " I hope we can laugh about this, later" "are we still friends" "no I'm not jewish, but I really like the culture" "Yes they wrote the TORAH, not king james" "I don't know the greek word for that" "no I'm not a christian, the word is too confusing" "shalom buddy"

I have been enjoying your series, but I wanted to point out that the word guilty which in Hebrew is וזר. appears in Proverbs 21:8 and not in Proverbs 1:28.
@akikusashintaro908811 жыл бұрын
Yup. They also lost the Chet/Heth which is the 'kha' and the 'ha'. Alif and ain are both ancient. The hamza may be a derivation from both these letters. Shin and Sin are dialects as we know in the Bible that there were people who cannot pronounce Shin.
@IngmarSweep9 жыл бұрын
At 1:33, you say that the word וזר (guilty) only appears once in the Hebrew Bible, in Proverbs 1:28. This should read Proverbs 21:8. The word is also translated as "strange" or "criminal".

What is the connection between the word ילד (yeled) and ולד (valad)? Their meaning is so close, I was wondering if there is a root behind them...

Sir, which one is correct, WAW or VAV?
@mansouribnalandalus515411 жыл бұрын
For what I know and study, the Greec O is 3ain ع. The E is simply a derivation of the short vowel "a". It could be also è. For hypothesis, I think ع is the oldest human phonem, then Alif came from it. Anyway, to make this kind of researches, we need strong knowledge on morphology and semantic : then comparison can rebuild correctly the hebrew anciant text. Hebrew confuse S and Sh, K and Kh, P and F, Wa and Ba this is obvious. They probably lost some other phonems.

I welcome disagreements, challenges help us learn and correct ourselves. I agree that it is entirely possible that the vav was a v. Additional evidence is that this letter was W in Greek as I pointed out in the video. Also, each letters that was used as consonants and vowels, had a close relationship with their sounds. For instance the hey is "eh" and "h," the yud is "iy" and "y," the waw would be ow, uw and w. As for being awkward, most can't even pronounce the letter chet.

@akikusashintaro908811 жыл бұрын
Spot on. The vowels O and E were also later inventions. Like Arabic ancient Hebrew does not have O or E vowels. It was a derivative from U and I vowels. There is also no 'gain' only 'ain'. They spell Gemorrah with an 'ain'.

dont forget about, ypsilon which is the origin of Y, V, U, and W
@andreasm57706 жыл бұрын
You forgot to mention that the Vav did not only become "F" (Wau/Digamma) in Greek, which became the Latin "F", but also "Y/V" (Ypsilon), which became the Latin alphabet letters: Y, V, U, and W
@brotherebenezer4492 жыл бұрын
I still think it's a V sound.

Yes it is....= ] the argument presented is Presumptive in Nature and not based in semantic linguistic analysis. and seems to reflect more of a Personal Bias.

All of the body parts in the Hebrew alphabet remind me of Egyptian hireoglyphics, which have more than one penises in their body parts alphabet... We have a womb in the letter Beth, but since there's no hammer to go with a nail, do you think Vau could be a penis?
@user-hu4hx6bm6m4 жыл бұрын
No , it has a sound U ,va is wrong
@akikusashintaro908811 жыл бұрын
Vav is Germanic. Vav should be pronounce as W when it is a consonant or U when it is a vowel. The Arab jews still maintain W.
Not sure to understand : hebrew have ح - Het and خ Kh but this last one is confused with the Kof. Example : MLKh (king/angel) instead of MLK. The 2nd express Possession, and the first the Chaos. So, semantical problem. Alif.still misterious, front the hamza, various opinions. Semantically, they have not the same meaning. I found that Hamza means Unit or simply Shotered, while Alif means Appeared. Semantic is a necessary tool in etymology.
