Absolutely brilliant. What you describe as how the original Irish people lived is who we truly are as humane human beings. we inherently KNOW what is fair and reasonable and what is not. We know how to live in harmony, we just been conditioned to believe that there must be rulers to maintain order. I like very much your expression "spontaneous order" it is exactly what happens when we are left to get on with life with no bosses or bossing. Thanks for this story or how the Irish lived. I'm sure all people did prior to the people who decided they were better and more important than everyone else imposing their shit on everyone else.

I'm Irish and Native American and you just saved me so much time. Granted I wouldn't say I'm against the state, I'd say the more educated / coherent a population is the less they need a state. (Stolen from Godwin) So I'm against the state as an ultimate goal for humanity, but I love the state as a way distribute education until every community can live without hurting other communities. Many native groups are fine now as they live with no impact on the planet. The rest of us have a lot of work to do in order to make our technology that efficient. Keep up the great work even if my opinion differs slightly!

Nice one! You have peaked my interest in early Irish jurisprudence and customs. Every man and women deserves the right to stake a claim in the Earth and try to produce wealth and the necessities of life. We all have nativity rights to use of our native lands required to sustain our lives.

What I really want to understand about the past history of Ireland is, why did alot of them leave their home land to come to America. Like I don't understand how the people got so oppressed to leave something they built.

Extreme poverty and famine were the main factors, not political oppression (at least directly). I mean it's not really that hard to understand it happens everywhere.
@byrne8509
@byrne8509 2 жыл бұрын
@@drts6955 there was huge political oppression by the british. irish natives were not aloud to fish and most food and livestock were sent to the plantations in the east for the british, and its estimated that 600,000 were killed in cromwells campaign. so a combination of famine, disease and overall despair caused many natives to leave the country.

Research Anglo-Irish history and the colonization of Ireland with Britain stealing the country and the Penal Laws, invasions to "civilize" The Irish. The push to eradicate the religion, Irish language, numerous famines, conquest and relocations, burn outs, absentee landlords, evictions, and squashing independence movements but all they can talk about are the IRA activities in the UK but don't want to face their own crimes in Ireland, India and throughout the world. The Irish were starved out of their own country and resources plundered to feed "The Commonwealth".

Law is not fundamental to society. Love is. Our parents taught us love of the individual. This respect for others makes society. Without it, law won't work anyway. We ask people what they want. Don't dictate.

The first line in the preamble to the Constitution begins with "In the name of the Most Holy Trinity...." The preamble has no legal bearing, the first line of the Constitution begins with Article 1, which declares the Irish nation as sovereign with the right to choose its own form of government.

Rome has been found to have had a great influence on Irish culture judging from the archaeological record so I`m sure that influenced other aspects of Irish life also there were tyrants galore causing trouble and strife for the common person during this period and Id just like to say I like the idea of people power but right now without a nation state the technocrats will rule more unjustly

The ideology of this is poetic and believe me it resonates deep within my soul. However it seems certain things aren't crossing your mind, people are physically different now compared to how they were in those times. By this I mean that there are people who literally have no family, no ability to work and earn be it on a physical or mental capacity. What of those who rely on state payments to survive? In the days of the Brehons there were no medical psychiatric conditions known, what you seem to be suggesting would be a much harsher environment for people to live in and with that potentially could cause massive problems for albeit a minority of the population.

I don't think the speaker is suggesting a return exactly to Brecon law times he is simply identifying principles as examples of a system of de-centralized governance "of the people not for the people."...

The Brehon laws had their strengths, but you've left out their drawbacks. Check out Fergus Kelly! Every man could have land. What about women? only in absence of male heirs could females inherit land. The currency was based on cows, and one other thing you left out: cumala. Female slaves, worth a certain number of cows each. (Money when it came in was referred to by the name of cumhal, pegged to the worth of an enslaved women.) The restitution system is shared with many indigenous societies, but in Ireland honor price was ranked by class status, not egalitarian. The lack of a state, yes and no. The chieftains of powerful clans were the state, as in feudal systems, complete with blood feuds. www.shm-qa.net/reviews/ag2eil-review.html

So Tell Me This Me Friend, during the Celtic Iron Age and or Celtic Bronze Age 200-400 B.C did Brenon Law dictate the various Celtic Polytheist Tribes in Ireland or was there a different set of guidelines?

It is believed the Fenechas ( Brehon law) was built up over many centuries but only began to be written down in the 5th 6th and 7th century's. Before the written word Brehons would have had to memorize many judgments and rules passed down from previous generations of Brehons who themselves would have Learned from the generations before. In other words the system of law and use of Brehons was a very ancient one and probably dated back many centuries and the scope of the laws added to gradually until Finally being written down.

What worked in a pre industrial society of maybe 100000 people would surely not work in a 21st century global civalisation. Any place that afforded a decent life in this day and age would soon be overwhelmed by mass immigration. People with thier own Ideas would quickly change this admittedly attractive idea.

Brehon Law Academy calling you out? Slaves, the bothachs, sen-cleithes, fuithirs; the cow herders, farm workers, laborers, arent included in what you call "The People", just like the American Founding Fathers. The people who do all the work arent politically franchised at all, so who are The People even and how can you say "the people make the law"? the rhetoric invites us to make a "more egalitarian" wealth-based aristocracy today- but thats what we already got

You fit capitalist ideas to societies that didn't know what that meant. I agree with you but it's closer to kropotkin anarchism than rothbard.
@DoninicGoland96
@DoninicGoland96 2 жыл бұрын
@king of those who know wow that's a whole load of stupid you just came out with. Whatever way you look at it Kropotkin was nothing short of a genius and very noble. Not a statist in any way (unlike rothtard whose ideas were tried in Chile and lead to a dictatorship, and that required a whole load of force and torture). Anarchism started and and continues to be a leftist persuit and whatever about leftist ideals needing force (which isn't true), for capitalism to work it always requires a government and always will, capitalism has never not used force. And you only think this isn't up for debate because you've thought about it for all of 2 seconds.
