The Assyrian Empire thus saw no particular expansion under Sennacherib. He did, however, carry out an ambitious building project in Nineveh, which he had restored to its position as the capital city. The vast palace he erected there was a complex of halls, courts, and rooms of state covering an area 450 m (1,500 ft) long by 210 m (690 ft) wide. He brought in water from 48 km (30 mi) away, constructing a causeway over the Gomel River, known as the Jerwan Aqueduct. Its waters contributed to the irrigation of gardens and parks, as well as to the filling of the city’s encircling moat, thereby strengthening the city’s defenses. I assume the carvings of vines and palms are about his accomplishment of bringing water from 30 miles away.

These are from the ancient Assyrian city of Nineveh. As an Assyrian I would much rather these get taken away and stored in Britain or France rather than leaving them with the Arabs who won’t look after them, or care about them as it’s not their culture.

It is possible that Ninneveh at this time was the home of the famed Hanging Gardens of Babylon. At the time the gardens were documented, Assyria had recently changed the name of Ninnevah to 'New Babylon' to give it's capital an heir of legitimacy. Excitingly, these rock carvings may hold evidence that this is true, and a real depiction of the gardens.

@@Mystic_Edge The amount of knowledge that has been lost due to Christian fanatics' leaders is absurd. Islam is the only reason you know who Aristotles is today. The Muslims preserved the teaching of the Ancient Greeks. While the Christian Romans were trying to destroy anything that contradicted the "Bible". Furthermore, look at the Americas and how much has been lost due to Western colonization. You're just a racist fool. And people still complain at the British Museum holding precious artifacts from around places in the world that have been unstable politically for hundreds of years. All the artifacts are safely kept under a nuclear umbrella noone can touch. Imagine if they were kept in England or France. Safe, forever. Why do people still demand for things to be given back when these amazing artifacts get destroyed by political crazies

Because they do not belong to the UK, I prefer if being destroyed in the country of origin than being stored in another country that has exploited and invaded the first country and took its culture and part of history to be stored in a foreign museum where foreign people can say “wow this *British museum* is so great

This brings up the question if these works would be safer in non warring countries, or if they should remain in their country of origin. I think they should stay in Iraq and the same goes for many original works of art stored in the basements of some Western museums, however more should be done to ensure the security and conservation of these priceless artifacts.
