This was so interesting, especially the part of finding the men buried on the outside and the women and children on the inside, like they were guarding them in the afterlife. I'm glad they decided to rescue these folks from the badgers. Badgers can be so damaging and a real nuisance. They used to do a lot of crop damage by digging into the sides of our irrigation canals and flooding the wheat fields. Live trapping was the only safe method we found effective. It kept the game department busy that is for sure. Up close they are beautiful but ferocious. I, like you, don't normally like to see graves disturbed, but if these folks were my family I would certainly want them saved from marauding badgers. Tho the badgers were only doing what badgers do best. Digging big holes to make their dens. Another great video Dan. The bloopers were hilarious!

I am just wondering about when they move the skeletons to the new burial spot are they going to mark the graves? The only thing I think they can do is number them and not sure if they will able identify if it’s male or female. Very interesting.
@DeepdiggerdanNet6 жыл бұрын
They wont be moving them. Theyll end up in a museum cellar.

Aloha Dan! Mahalo! What an interesting find! And the way they were buried is interesting, like the men's bodies encircled the women/children in death as in life? And the soldiers earning their Archaeology degrees is awesome! I know here in Hawaii, the State pays big $$$ to Archaeologists, just starting pay!!

Alot of archaeology is rescuing stuff that's in danger or stumbling over unexpected things. They do in fact try to leave alot intact because future historians can go back and learn more with better tech. You did miss one treasure news fyi, a gold ring from roman times was found in Somerset at barrow clump i think. its in the metro news on the internet if you want more details.
