Genesis 6 truth is complicated but two humans couldn't have created Giants. Are they saying that the watchers (Bene elohiem) showed early man how to create giants through sex magic? They can't explain the ritual in detail and when asked where it can be found he mentions several "ritual texts" of several ancient kingdoms. More likely they impregnated the daughters of men themselves to create enormous giants called Nephilim. Also, fallen angels aren't synonymous with demons. This Yahweh god didn't work for me then and not now, unless of course, I would prefer to really believe, worship, love and pray to a god who ordered the brutal murder of children, innocent men and women, who prescribed very shady allowances concerning the rape of young women who were virgins (Deuteronomy 22:23-28), and who promised to "save" people while destroying entire cultures around his "chosen people", including the entire earth by a flood. Yahweh is a very destructive god. How spiritually comforting could that actually be? And mentioning "cannibalism", it was interesting how the Eucharistic "body and blood" belief was just glossed over. Apparently, it was fine for Yahweh to command the annihilation of entire cities due their cannibalism, but it is just fine for Christians to eat and drink God's "body and blood" without mentioning the word "cannibalism". Christianity is either a myth, or a very destructive belief system with a very angry, jealous, tyrannical god. I can say this because I used to be a Christian, and what is unfortunate is that many fellow believers acted just like the Yahweh character of the Bible. It is shameful and it is a complete contradiction to what Jesus of Nazareth taught about loving God and your neighbor. I doubt that Jesus even worshiped or prayed to this Yahweh monster.

The modern use of 'nation' is not right. A nation cannot be reduced to only dna... ALLTHOUGH the right old understanding of 'a nation' does include a heritage by blood; so race is not "nothing" and tribes and nations do historically share a common heritage. The exception does not disprove the rule. 10 or 20 prosent of a nation beeing mixed does not negate the fact that that pertucular nation has a common heritage. At 1:31:59 I was alarmed to hear an instance of the worrying argument for killing prospective enemies before they are able to do harm, even before they are able to desire it. Murder is presented as merciful because the victims might come to a worse end, and is considered comparable to an early death by natural causes. Did I misunderstand what was said? If, as Fr. says, the purpose of life is repentance, does he believe killing a prospective sinner causes the completion of repentance? Is it our place to do that? I hope there is a better way to reconcile the biblical account with the modern conscience; this one is not sufficient.

The commentary about "what if the kids had survived" was an aside to the more important point: That God doesn't condemn those who are consciously innocent (like little children) when they die. The innocent children were joined into God's fold, which is undeniably the BEST outcome for anyone -- despite how horrible it may appear from THIS side of life. That in no way justifies murder. ANY murder. Even of a PROSPECTIVE sinner. You mentioned "repentance." In order to be repentant, you must first KNOW of the evils you've done. A consciously innocent child has neither reason nor NEED to repent--because they don't KNOW they've sinned. Killing a PROSPECTIVE sinner is killing someone with zero NEED of repentance. There is no repentance to "complete" there. So no, it is NOT our place to murder babies. "But God clearly said otherwise in this circumstance." No he didn't. "But he had the Israelites murder innocent children." No he didn't. To think so is to conflate "murder" with "humanity enacting the will of God." They are comparable ONLY in their appearance. There's a difference worth understanding there, and that difference is rooted in the NATURE of God as one who loves life and wants "life more abundant." Which raises the question: "Why would someone who loves life, and wants "life more abundant"...annihilate a people?" On a final note, we don't need to "reconcile" the biblical account with "the modern conscience." You've got that backwards.

During translation Yahweh and Yhwh became the same meaning yet they are two different people. One is the adversary (the serpent who deceived Adam and Eve into giving up their dominion the earth ). Jesus: rebukes the wind and speaks peace over the storm. Jesus said “for it is written…” instead of “The Fathers word says…” Jesus didn’t say that God gave the Law to Moses, he said the angels (fallen) gave it to Moses… When some verses should have said “God the Father” they said Lord. Lord can also be the name for the adversary

It’s at least 10 times in the NT that it says it was fulfilled…Jesus said he would return quickly, either you believe him or not, I don’t care really…just think it’s silly to try and do that which is already done with ur ministry. GOD the Father gave power to the disciples to preach to every creature under heaven, and they did. Then the end came- the end of Judaism/animal sacrifice/old testament/old covenant: Christ is a better sacrifice and now we no longer need animals to die for forgiveness of sin. I'm slightly amused by the subdued laughing and mocking of interpretations of the demons and Nephilim in Genesis you disagree with. I have a crazy idea for you ... Adam means red clay. Humans were on Noah's Ark for LONGER than a YEAR! What if humans came to Earth from the red planet (Mars), taking over a year to travel to Earth from Mars on a spaceship? The ravens and dove could have been scout ships. Before you laugh, do you reject the Bible literally saying Noah and his wife and their three sons and their wives were on the ark for over year? BTW, I'm Eastern Orthodox and certainly don't think you have to believe humans are from Mars and that Noah's ark was a Martian spaceship that colonized Earth, but I don't think it's wrong to believe it could be so. I also see no problem believing the Bible literally says fallen angels and human females procreated giant humans. Why do some of my Christian brethren who believe in the supernatural and in miracles laugh at and mock people who believe in demon-human giant offspring? I'm sure there are some Orthodox Christian teachers, scholars and even clergy who think Jesus didn't literally walk on water, heal people, harrow Hell and raise Himself and the Old Testament saints from the dead.
