I just bought Dylan Thomas book it was great to watch such a delivery by Mr Capaldi.

I think this is Capaldi's finest minute of acting. He shows Dr. Pete's pain and regret so beautifully. Very moving and so authentic. You can sense the sorrow in his face and his eyes. Heartbreaking.

OK so I've seen this now and this scene has so much more emotional impact when seen in context with the rest of the film. Brilliant performance from Peter Capaldi!

A relaxed delivery and as every ounce of emotional outpouring is expelled, we see the work imagined creatively from the liquid in the glass. Great work!

Of course death shall have no dominion, there can be no dominion over a dead corpse. The religious have to get out of the idea that beyond life there is another life. The thought is exceedingly attractive but without any evidence whatsoever that it is true. If we live after death it is within those whom we knew in the world, and that is why it is far more important to get that right than sing hymns and utter prayers in pursuit of a ridiculous idea of heaven. How can we know that anything is eternal? Even God cannot know he is eternal. We use the word as a sop to our fear of death but it is meaningless.
