When my mother decided I was old enough to start combing my own hair, I was pretty upset because my hair tangles easily and my scalp is very sensitive. I would keep a pair of scissors handy and just cut out the knots. Years later, my mom takes me to my first hair stylist who cut my mid-back length hair to my chin trying to even it up. I was ecstatic not to have hair on my neck anymore but when my mom saw me, she burst into tears. She was mad. My aunts were mad. My cousins were mad. My boyfriend was mad. Oh my smh......so I, too, was a child "hair cutter". I haven't really grown out of it. It all starts with the thought "I'm just gonna trim a little bit off". I really shouldn't be allowed to have scissors in my home without a chaperone or an accountability partner. The bangs that I have messed up on myself, my daughter and my granddaughter.....OH LORD HELP US!!😂

I can’t even say nothing I did this before. I hated how long it took to take the braids out so I started cutting them the moment my momma left me alone. I got to like two or three before she caught me. I’m surprised I’m still alive to this day😂

I wasn't crazy enough to cut it out, but I had gotten my hair done for $40, and I realized the braids could just slip right out. So, I started sliding them bad boys down. My Mom was mad at me *and* the braider. Overall, my Aunt who took me to the appt was the most mad. I had to figure it out, so I used the parts to redo it myself. There were a few braids that had to be combined, but it came together.😅 That was the last time I got my hair professionally braided, and surely the last time my Mom paid. At 14, I was officially my own hair dresser. 😂

These kids are definitely built different because she felt secure enough and bold enough to shear her head like a sheep and walk away unscathed, lol. When I was about her age I snipped a few scraggles off the ends of my hair (so little they were probably just the split ends) and my father grabbed me by the arm and brought me to my mother in a rage. We wouldn't think to cut the whole thing off because our parents always had us in a disciplinary chokehold of doing the most for the smallest indiscretion.

Wow, I think I would have to give her what she tried to accomplish and cut it all off and hope it grows back. The water bottle would probably be in the trash. However, my granddaughter cut a patch out of her hair but reason was sweet, her mother had to cut her hair because of chemo and she said she wanted to be pretty like her mom. So we couldn't be mad at her and thankfully we could hide the short part in her other hair and I kept it braided for a while. I agree with EJ the children of today are truly different

One time my daughter was complaining to the school - not to me - that her hair was too tight. She went to the nurse crying and everything!!!! They asked me to come pick her acting tail up. (It was so pretty). I took her hair down and made her wear it like a troll doll the rest of the time she would have had braids. She never complained again…by the time she dealt with those looks and whispers, she figured out that wasn’t the way to go. This video reminded me of that.

My son did something like this. He used a grooming clipper (lighter and easier to manipulate than regular clippers) to shave off a chunk of his front hairline. I was so mad cos all I did was ask him to go brush for bedtime. How did that end up in a self haircut? I was tempted to send him to school like that, but I'm trying not to be like our parents. I had to give him a proper haircut that night when we were supposed to be sleeping on a school night.

I'm in tears!😂😂 Last week, I asked my stylist for goddess braids. She looked at my very short fro and yelled across the packed salon, "Your hair is too short to be a goddess!"😂😂 That baby was trying to create a braided mohawk! Depending on who does the braiding, grabbing a bottle of water to take a pain killer after your soul has been lifted is a sign of relief.😢😂😂

My daughter called herself getting ready on her own and doing her hair. She had little pigtails all over her head. She wanted to rock her fro. So she cuts out the rubber bands in the back (she'd seen me do this). Needless to say hair was missing 😩. She learned a valuable lesson that day 😂

This one I have to disagree with. I got my hair braided all the time growing up but only with my own hair which was fine. I know people will get mad at me but I hate seeing kids with hair braided in anything that's not their own (i.e. buying hair and braiding it into your own). It hurts adults so I know it hurts kids. I never thought it was a big deal until I was getting my hair braided one day and this lady brought her daughter in to get box braids and the girl started crying because it hurt and the mom was telling her to be quiet and stuff (I started crying too because that broke my heart). The braider was trying to make it less painful but for many people its just going to hurt for a few days. So yea, maybe the girl was trying to relieve the pain? And yes she could have communicated it but kids don't always think logically. However, if the pain was the reason, the parent should have maybe not forced that hairstyle on her kid just yet.

I agree. I don't do braids and I didn't allow my daughter to get them until she was later in her teens. There was a specific person that I would allow to do her braids so that her hair wouldn't come out. I'm more old school. In my opinion children shouldn't get braids or chemicals in their hair. What happened to washing and conditioning and greasing the hair? Take out time to comb the child's hair every morning. Take the child to the salon/barber and get their hair done regularly.

I, as a parent, I would have to tag her behind because she's old enough to know better, but maybe she's has some type of disability that may cause her to do this. It would be a long time before I spend another dime getting her hair done. She wouldn't have to cut her hair because it would fall out before I spent any more money.

WOW!!!! I'm 60 years old. I remember I was 6 years old and I cut ✂️ my brother and sister hair because I was bored 😴 with my Christmas toys and tell my brother and sister let's play "Barber Shop!!!!!" First I cut my brother hair and it was A MESS!!!!!. My brother had a big old smile 😊on his face!!!! When I got to my sister I cut ✂️ ALL HER PONYTAILS!! just like your KZbin tutorial. Then it was my turn and sat down in the chair and my brother was to cut ✂️ my hair, that when my mother walked in and said STOP!!! I didn't get my hair cut, but all three of us got a ASS WHIPPNG!!!!! I don't blame my mother. I wonder if the braids was too tight or she was just curious. LOVE your KZbin tutorials. Keep up the good work. Have a wonderful day 😊 Robin N.Otis-Clayborne
