My thoughts: • Carrie has a bun because she’s an Old Maid now! • They’ve made Charlotte the ultimate Old Maid because she can’t relate to her kids becoming teenagers. That’s not Charlotte. Are they going to show her painting a plate in that shop from SATC next? • They decided to check the ‘cultural appropriation’ box this time (they’re working through a list) • They showed the side characters having dinner because they wanted a scene with no white people in it to prove they’re so inclusive now • The facelift doctor - OMG, compare that to when Samantha saw a professional doctor who drew red lines on her. This ‘doctor’ should be struck off • Who buys an even bigger apartment when their beloved spouse has just died? Usually those who hated their spouse imo. One minute she’s downsizing from the Big apartment to her old one, now she’s going BIG?! And then changing her mind? That beep is her brain malfunctioning • We had a gratuitous sex and masturbation scene to prove this series is still raunchy *eyeroll* • No offence to anyone with ADHD but the lack of context around ANYTHING suggests that the writers can’t concentrate on anything for more than a nanosecond • I’m getting so fed up of everyone being so miserable all the time. I think the writers/producers of this show forgot one of the major reasons SATC was such a hit in the first place: most people will never get to have their glamorous, big city life. And each of the main characters were relatable in a way that we could pick one of them to identify ourselves with. (It's the same reason people like sci fi shows like Star Trek. Most of us will never get to travel to space.) We lived vicariously through these characters so we could also enjoy the playground that was New York City at that time. And the characters had a blast, so we had a blast. This new show has lost all that. No one wants to be these characters. Even the writers make them out to be old codgers who complain about everything. Who wants to live vicariously through these ladies? Who wants to live in their world? I don't.

I could see a teen saying that about the dolls just because they don’t like or want them in their room. I have three teenage girls, and I couldn’t imagine in a million years they would want a doll collection hanging in their bedroom. And they sure as hell would not want to keep it decorated the same way I decorated it when they were little. The writers are treating Charlotte as if she’s some clueless mom who doesn’t know her own children very well. She’s was always traditional, but not stupid. The thing that upsets me most about AJLT is that it’s changed how I feel about rewatching the original series. I LOVED the original series and would watch and rewatch it all the time. It was a true joy to watch and I always felt how the series ending was brilliantly written and totally made sense. Now when I even think of rewatching the series, it’s like I know ultimately what “happens” to these characters. So like the reunion on Brooklyn bridge with Steve and Miranda in the first film, she’s now miserable and obsessed with Che? And Samantha who was the most loyal and least judgmental of all of them just f**ed off after all those years of friendship and didn’t even come back for bigs funeral? And Big dies, yet Carrie doesn’t even seem that affected by it? Not only is the reboot total dogsh*it but they’ve now ruined the memory of the original series, so much so I don’t know if I’ll ever watch it again. It literally hurts my heart, as it was probably my favourite programme ever.

It looked like she was buying a hospital to live in. For her to buy it just because she felt bad about dragging Seema around some more was ridiculous. It might have been better to see her reject places because something about them reminded her too much of big. Like one place could have a huge closet. One is above a Peloton store. One is too near a restaurant where Big took her on one of their dates... Then Seema tells her maybe she needs to find a place that reminds her of something she loved before she even met Big--and she ends up getting an apartment on Fashion Ave. or in the building where Samantha used to live in the Meatpacking District, or near a huge bookstore. Or, it could've been a place she first met one of the girls--to bring it back to her friends being her soulmates. (Sorry, my favorite pastime these days is rewriting this show in my head.)

One of the problems with the show is that they expect us to be invested in the new characters and we know nothing about them at all. It would have been more believable if they already had established friendships. Instead Miranda, Charlotte, and Carrie all literally bump into Lisa, Nya, and Seema and just like that instant friends who really have nothing in common whatsoever. They force these new characters on us just for the sake of adding color and diversity to the show. As a woman of color who has friends of many complexions this personally offends me because adding these characters seems lackadaisical sort of like adding parsley on top of a steak because it makes the steak look better but really adds no flavor. These characters are beautiful but underdeveloped and bland.

They do talk about eachother to Charlotte or Harry as if the other one was not there, even tho they are both in the room, like in this episode. Does that even make sense?

There are too many plots and characters to focus on any relationships or storylines in any detail. Whole sitcoms revolve around families of four, like Charlotte's family. There's way too much going on in this show- death of a major character, alcoholism, infidelity, going back to school, infertility, a child with gender dysphoria, two teenagers, a divorce, starting a business, starting a new job, etc. And that's just in 6 episodes so far.

You referred to Rock as Rose - how DARE you? :) And if that was just an apartment, how does she get a terrace without a balcony above her? How does she pay for such an amazing place while still keeping her old cashmere? Because of her great podcast or writer’s salary from weekly columns? (In the 80s, I wrote a weekly column in a real publication - paid peanuts). If Big was so wealthy, why sweat the $1 Million given to Tom Brady’s ex (Forgot her character name)? After hip surgery, how did Carrie see 48 apartments, box her stuff for storage (badly - do boxes have to be 6 feet apart in storage in NYC?), move to and then just scrap her unbelievable new place because she wasn’t smart enough to listen where the beep came from? They fixed it once, apparently, didn’t that give her a clue the source? Was hoping Charlotte with her new bass mouth would give Carrie pointers on subtle plastic surgery! And sure, the doctor would do a full computer rendering of before and after during the free consult when it wasn’t even Carrie’s appointment. Since when do these entitled gourmands do picnics? Why did the table cover look less like a tablecloth than either Miranda’s top or bottom? Maybe you can do a video on the best of Che - the hilarity, the truth, the wisdom! They’d be better off not showing clips from “their” comedy “concert “ because “they” is so painfully unfunny. Just let us imagine “them” as a laugh riot. All three characters are awful - entitled Carrie, sporting her Lilith Sternum bun, is the worst as she bemoans her spectacular apartment and casually flips it for a la-di-dah major loss. And Seema is a hell of a new friend casually aiding and abetting her cluelessness in buying what’s she doesn’t want. I’d go on but I just spilled my bed toast. The Indian dress worn by Carrie for Seema’s Diwali (you pronounced it right!) party - is called a lehenga. We Indians don’t mind if people from other cultures wear our clothes; in fact we find it flattering, at least most of us do. Now à propos Carrie’s rose Mohawk, it looked a bit strange but I think it was just her character ‘individualizing’ the lehenga, giving it the Carrie stamp of flamboyant fashion - remember her bird headdress for that failed wedding with Big? So I thought it looked strange, but if you discount the Mohawk, the way her lehenga was styled was really pretty. I loved her long braid and the flowers woven in - that’s also typical in India - and looks very pretty for a festival or wedding look. She nailed her look pretty much… btw, thanks for this fun and honest review.

Instead of checking off diversity boxes, I wish they would’ve combined the Che & Professor characters into one, this way Miranda being drawn to this potential love interest, love affair feels earned, we would see them confide in each other over their lackluster or tense romantic relationships and motherhood/infertility. (The fertile Myrtle thing is hard because while I LOVE those two actors, you’re pulling away from our ‘mains’ and it feels like another show altogether.) Also means we don’t have to force Che, who is from Carries world into Mirandas scope. Oh and there’s this: Charlotte adopted a Chinese daughter. Instead of INVENTING storylines around race, diversity, identity, with whole new characters, why not mine this already existing character and how Charlotte may have fumbled over the years with her Chinese daughter, that she may have encouraged the teen to assimilate into white American culture instead of celebrating her own Chinese heritage? Like she should join a Chinese Pride group at school that gives her the strength to rebel against her white mother. I mean it’s ALL there just glossed over to accommodate…here we go…her WHITE daughter. Ugh. So within her own family, we have yet another piece of diversity window dressing. Also I’ma late 40s single woman native NYer currently looking for an apartment. It’s like a DAMN FULL TIME JOB! And the prices have SKY ROCKETED since The-who-shall-not-be-named-virus. My random thoughts as I watched the show. This is long but you did say you wanted to hear every thought 😄 Unlike "Carrie", I don't find the name Seema "very pretty." It's nice, it's okay, it's vanilla... it reminds me of that beer from the early '90s that tasted like a gin and tonic, Zima. Zima has more zip, so I'm changing the character's name. Zima's monotone voice makes me fall asleep. Berger should have had a recording of her reading the Congressional roll call, instead of a sleep machine with rainforests and crickets. Ever since new friends here said Carrie dresses like an Olsen twin, that's all I can see. The frumpy layering. The droopy hats. Then Carrie loaned her checkerboard bathrobe to Miranda, who wore it to their picnic lunch, where it matched their tablecloth. Carrie's gray and black striped hair color? Not working. Make it stop. And stop pulling her hair back severely, flat against her skull. She looks like Mrs Grundy from Archie comics. (Why does her hair keep changing from blonde to gray-and-black-striped to blonde? Hello - continuity?) Also make Miranda's reliving of shotgunning and mouth-smothering rape-appearing stuff with Lothario stop. It was revolting the first time and reliving it is causing equal upheaval. Carrie buys a huge glass apartment she doesn't love. Real estate is the most costly thing the majority of people buy, and you buy it for a variety of reasons including resale value, but one reason you buy is that you love it, when you walk in it feels like home. Of course Zima is happy to sell it again days later: hello, another hundred thousand dollars commission, goodbye a little chunk of Carrie's wealth. P.S. Carrie HAD Maintenance come to her new apartment to stop mysterious beeping, but didn't ASK WHAT IT WAS, and HOW TO FIX IT IF IT HAPPENED AGAIN. Lame. Also lame: when she called for Maintenance again, she was told she had to wait until morning. An apartment that expensive doesn't provide 24-hour maintenance service? Carrie's looks: Olsen twin. Boxy jackets. Weird headgear. Checkered bathrobe. Carrie called 1 800 MATTRESS. She's clearly also been calling 1 800 BAD HATS. The new actors need to e-nun-ci-ate. They're rushing and slurring words, as though they're embarrassed by the bad dialogue. Who is directing this? Oh. The professor ridicules someone she knows. Way to empower and support women and women's choices. She can disagree with choices, choose who to spend time with, but: putting a woman down for enjoying motherhood is just as close-minded and stereotype-y. She supports a women's and children's shelter, but not a woman with children? Cough cough cough. And the friend Myrtle was sweet and sensitive. It was her husband pushing the "you've gotta have kids." Not interested in seeing Nya "with" her husband, or Miranda "with" herself. Carrie to Charlotte: "You're going to have to handle my responsibilities of unpacking, because that's what I do: instead of taking the time I need to, to go through the grief process and handle my own life responsibilities, I'm going to dump it on you. I paid someone to do this in the past, but I don't need to now because all you're doing with your life is letting your children tell you your dolls are "culturally inappropriate" (instead of teaching them it's an appreciation of beautiful traditional clothing enjoyed by peoples around the world and is celebrating their culture. As Zima put it: "it's not cultural appropriation, it's cultural appreciation." That's what Charlotte should have taught her daughters). You can charmingly tell your friends about your life choices, "That's something we need to decide for ourselves, in our own time." No need to be rude or judgy (says the reviewer savaging this awful show). It's always good to be kind to your friends. The golden rule. (If I wrote a show this bad, I would want someone to tell me.) The sole good storyline was Nya's women and children's shelter. FINALLY someone privileged is doing something for society besides Javier House for substance-addicted $2,000-suit designers. T"his isn't working!" Carrie screamed. That's what I keep thinking, about this show. At this point, my disappointment is dispassionate; I have accepted this show is unredeemable and watching it is simply satisfying tepid curiosity, and reaffirming it's time to bury this corpse. Like Big, this series was dead on arrival. The scenes where Carrie is talking to herself, I am sure were filmed with Chris Noth talking to her because that's what she was imagining. They cut his shots out and that's why her random shouts are so disjointed. That bad rug on Miranda's head is awful. Almost as awful as the rest of the show put together. People who can't understand this criticism: a good wig has a natural-looking scalp that you can see where the hair parts. Miranda's wig looks like a skinny old animal crawled up and died on her head. I didn't laugh once. No, I take that back. I laughed twice: When Carrie had sunglasses on in bed. When the plastic surgeon said his assistant was triggered by needles. This show doesn't offer wit, escapism, warmth, the great things SATC the series was known for. And the person pushing stereotyped expectations on women is the show writer.

It is absolutely **shameful** that Miranda -- and let's face it, the entire show -- is giving no thought to Steve in all this. Carrie and Charlotte have called Miranda out for cheating, yes, but they've said only "you're married," never once saying Steve's actual name. As if Steve is some abstract being they've never even met, when they've known him for decades. Add this to Steve's ridiculous, premature aging on the show, and they're clearly trying to make Miranda as "blameless" as possible. And that is so unfair. Not after what this franchise put Steve through for a one-night stand. Steve's not even **in** this episode at all? There should at least be a moment or two where Miranda interacts with Steve, and then looks guilty/sad when he leaves the room. Unable to give up these new feelings but at least *acknowledging* that Steve will be devastated when he learns about it? Or are they going to have Steve be absurdly understanding, and tell Miranda, "Whatever you want is fine, darling! Go, prosper, flourish, I don't mind at all!"
