And Just Like That… we are halfway through the second season, yet Aidan still hasn't shown up.
In this very unhinged video, I am pitching two storylines: Charlotte as a food influencer and the cancellation of Carrie Bradshaw. I'm also discussing Carrie's Moncler puffer coat and her forgotten house in The Hamptons, the fact that Lily has no friends, LTW needs to hire Mr. Big's old driver, Miranda and Steve's marriage and their biggest fight yet, Miranda and Che's breakup.
00:00 intro
01:36 Charlotte
04:13 LTW
05:14 Carrie
10:12 Miranda Steve and Che
14:48 overall thoughts

So where are the conservative Jewish Children?? It started to go bad when they had Charlotte adopt a Sino-Asian baby. They at least should have adopted from an Eastern European country!! And Rose becoming “Rock” utterly absurd!!! Never would happen in a Conservative Jewish Family!! I like the additional Characters but some of them need serious tweaking!! Che needs to just let the whole non-binary piece go!! She’s too old for that nonsense!! That’s for Gen Z’ers who are confused about life and literally don’t know what to get into next!!! SATC is written by gay men who wrote the female characters as gay men in disguise. Gay men for many years would be abandoned by their immediate families after coming out. And so they created new families among their friends. This is what the 4 women of SATC did. Once you realize that Carrie, Charlotte, Miranda and Samantha are gay men, the show makes more sense.

I hated the Charlotte and Lily story line. It would have made more sense to infuse Charlotte's newfound open-mindedness with her romantic essence in talking with Lily. The writers really had Lily bullying her parents, and the way she was communicating to them was so rude and unnecessary. It would have made more sense to have Charlotte on Lily's iPad or something and accidentally see naughty messages between her and Blake, then to try and intervene and talk with her. From this point, since Charlotte is KNOWN as the romantic one, she could invite open communication WITH the reminder that sex is a sacred act and that Lily should honor that choice. It felt too much like Lily was pushing her parents around and it was gross and cringe all at once.

The moment when Steve yelled at Miranda actually made tear up, because I could feel his pain. I don't usually tear up for SATC, except for the montage in the last episode when Magda kisses Miranda, Lily's adoption is confirmed and Smith tells Samantha he loves her. I honestly don't feel sorry for che and their 'depressive episode' cause they are selfish regardless what phase they are, like they could have gotten out of bed and done the shout-out videos, and not dismissed Miranda when a fan sent Che a nude. Also, why tf is Miranda even making breakfast and doing the laundry for Brady and Steve, they can do it themselves.

I just hate Miranda so much because she doesnt really care about Steve or Brady. Like when she mentions how Steve makes her guilty and not telling Brady whats up because she's the bad guy doesnt ring hinest to me. Like it feels to me that Miranda just doesn't want to deal with the consequences of what she did or actually have empathy toward the pain she inflicted to Steve and eventually to Brady. Like she really just cheated on the man who loved her without a second thought, told him she wanted to separate and also she already found someone else then left him to go live her new life with her affair partner in California and etc without even dealing with separating with Steve or getting closure. She only decides to remember that Steve exists when Brady comes back and then wants to keep up the illusion that she didn't destroy their marriage and then have Steve leave their home that he's been staying in the whole time that she never cared about. Like she's just so selfish to everyone and im glad Steve called her out

Because she realized that she was in love with STEVE. And actually wanted a traditional family in spite of herself. What is MPK talking about??? She got married against her will???????? That's not how any of the fans remember it. Even in the 1st movie after he cheated on her, she ultimately decides to forgive Steve because she realizes that she loves him and they belong together. With the logic of Miranda not wanting to marry Steve because it was in a park, Big really didn’t want to marry Carrie because he did it for real estate reasons to make her happy, stood her up at the library and only eventually went through with it when she was in a non-label dress and down City Hall. I really feel like they are missing a big opportunity with Charlotte. She was focused for so long on her dream of having kids. It's even what ultimately ended her first marriage. But picking up at this point in her life, it would've made sense that she's feeling lost because her kids are older now and don't need her as much, and she's given up her career. So what now? Her plot lines could have been more about Charlotte rediscovering herself as a person and not just as a mom. So does King think that people who don't have big church weddings don't really want to get married? We live in a culture that pushes wedding costs onto everyone, that creates a wedding industrial complex. It seems kinda offensive to suggest that someone who had a low-key wedding did it only because they didn't really want to get married. Not everyone is a 1%er who can afford a rom-com fantasy for their wedding. Personally, if I ever got married, Miranda's is the ideal - a small ceremony with close friends then a restaurant. The number one problem with this show is that it is not relatable any longer. The writers and producers are trying to right what was perceived as wrong. I will be the first to say it. Just because you do not understand or agree with someone's sexual identifier,preference, etc, doesn't mean mean you don't support them. You do you. The kids are not interesting, and it is stupid to think that at 17 year old screwing his girlfriend all around the house, he would be interested in carving pumpkins. A 16 year old who is mature enough to plan her first sexual experience is too dumb to remember you bring condoms. You don't rely on the other person to do this. Cynthia Nixon should stick to acting and not directing or producing. Miranda exited this show and we got Cynthia's life instead. Charlotte is ridiculous with the Donna Reed get-up and always cooking. Running fundraisers for the $50,000 per student school both kids attend is ridiculous. Go to work! I do not understand the purpose of LTW, the professor or Anthony. The show would've been more interesting if... Big had a heart attack brought on by stress. Carrie finds out their lifestyle was a sham from bad business moves to COVID and that there's no money, forcing her to move back to her apartment and on the writers hustle for work. Miranda and Syeve should've had a progressive decline in their relationship starting with Miranda not working. She quit the firm in the movie, but what has she been doing for almost 10 years? Stanford should've been working with clients in London since they opened sooner than the US, later leading to he and Anthony having a "what we're we thinking " revelation through Anthony. Samantha losing her PR business during COVID made sense, but they could've had her falling out due to pride.

Miranda asked steve to marry her! Thats far from against her will. And she chose the park because she loved it. She chose to keep the baby. She loved Steve so much she took him back after he cheated on her. I'm convinced the writers have never seen any sex and the city at all. I hate this show. It's literally the worst. Also what was that awful scene where Charlotte and Carrie are talking on the phone while in the middle of the blizzard and Carrie sounds like voiceover and so stiff and just terrible acting. It felt like they got AI to do those lines. This show needs to be canceled before they ruin these characters anymore. Also, they will never get me to care about any other side character. Their storylines are so boring and pointless. And I would be livid if the person I had broken up my family for left me after such a short period of time. You better believe I wouldn't be spooning with them after they dumped me. Miranda has no right to be mad at Steve for moving on and no right to be mad that he doesn't want to leave the house he's lived in for 25 years. Like he gets cheated on, dumped and loses his house? That's just not fair at all. At least steve is standing up for himself alittle but he's still too damn nice to Miranda.

My Mum got me on the pill before I was sexually active as a precaution and she was the one I called and took me for a pregnancy test when I thought a condom had broken during sex at 16 (I’m in the UK). I had many friends and was far more open with my Mum and open about what was going on for me with boundaries and negotiations through teenage years in a restricted time in the middle of the countryside. She was very traditional as well and a housewife and perfect mama. So it’s realistic for me and the relationship we had and the trust in an older woman who loves me and not a bunch of other useless teens. Not to mention, at that time I was the only one who looked old enough to legally buy condoms, cigarettes and alcohol!! So yeah, I confided in my mum and asked for help! Not too far of a reach for me

I love this and it makes me happy that there are parents in the world who are sex positive. My parents and family were very judgemental of me in my teens when they found out I lost my virginity and they made me out to be some slut, and constantly berated me until I went no contact with them for a whole lot of reasons. Seeing Charlotte want to be a part of her daughters life was great, because if my child called me to say I don't have condoms, I thought my boyfriend was getting them you bet I will be there to deliver some to them.

This was so enjoyable to listen to :). All nonsense from the series aside, i do want to say in Carrie's defence: To me, it is believable she has changed through life and became much more accepting and patient towards other people and their own personal struggles. When the series start she has never been in love before, never had a low like we witnessed her slipp into with each passing episode before the euphoric ending of the series where she had found her core self again. She wasn't happy and she was self absorbed because of it. I personally relate to that as i hit my prime dating stage in my early twenties and i didn't know squat about life but i felt like i knew all. I have changed sooo much in 10 years so to me it is very believable that carrie really did chill the f out over several decades of gained experience. I think it is a very realistic growth spurt considering her core qualities have always been there, just overshadowed at times by naivety. She has learned when to live and let live. Miranda's situation however i feel like they've tried to apply the same growth here as they did with carrie but then the other way around. Miranda has been quite up tight and arogantic throughout the series and she herself has suffered because of it so i think that maybe they wanted to burst her bubble. She was so high wired that they wrote her a typical midlife crisis type of storyline as if that was the only way to go. It is waaaay over the top and super silly and yes it does defeat the subtle growth she had went trough at the end of the series. She settled down, accepted motherhood, accepted Steve and let his goals in life exist along side hers. In my opinion this crazy Che story-line was never needed. I can see why they did what they did it was just completely unnecessary and redundant. Also this season should have been called Miranda and Che i think because i feel like everything was about them xD.

I think its definitely on MPK for rewriting the narrative that Miranda hated motherhood BUT seeing Steve stand up to Miranda like that (I feel) was validly warranted. First YOU blindside me, demand a divorce and then ask ME why I haven't moved out yet? You're the one that did this, YOU are the one that doesn't want me or the life we built together anymore, but I'M the bad guy here? Steve was definitely right about the house too. I love their original Arch in SATC but they have some hell of nerve to make it seem like Steve is completely wrong when its very valid he is THIS upset with her when she is the one acting like she was wronged in some way. Miranda wants to have her cake and eat it too. She doesn't want Steve but is upset when he moves on. She doesn't want him but he cant be with anyone else. Its insane.

I wonder how much influence SJP has for character development over Carrie. Maybe SJP seen how really hated Carrie was and so she told the writers she wanted Carrie to become opposite of what made her universally despised. SJP as an actress is linked to Carrie and she also has had to contend with the feud with Kim Cattrall. It wouldn't surprise me if her character was written to be more likable as a PR move.
@KasiaSopniewska
@KasiaSopniewska Жыл бұрын
@unicornzombielove Good question! All I know is that SJP watched the original show only once!!!!! In the AJLT documentary, when she's about to shoot a scene with Bridget Moynahan (Natasha), she tells her something like, 'Oh, I'm glad we finally got to have a scene together,' and Bridget has to remind her about the " not only have you ruined my marriage, you've ruined my lunch" scene. CRAZY! So, I guess SJP doesn’t even remember (or cares to remember about) the majority of plotlines her character had and probably wants Carrie to reflect who she is as a person today.

@@KasiaSopniewska she's still as selfish as ever to me. When her friends call her she's always so dismissive to what they say, and she's always hanging up on them implying that whatever she's doing is more important than the phone call. I disagree about Carrie’s “sudden political correctness “ about sexuality. Someone made a flippant comment about not believing in bisexuality 20 years ago, but now is supportive of LBGTQ friends, not unusual at all. In 20 years, more people are out, so more of us are exposed through colleagues or social relationships, and can very well become very accepting of it without therapy. Carrie was not fire breathing, table thumping person who spoke out against it many times, was just a flippant comment by someone who was insulated from it. She became more exposed and enlightened in 20 years. We never felt she wrote columns that spoke out against LGBTQ. Exclusionary though, yes. However, I agree it would be interesting if she got slammed for continuing to be exclusionary of LBTGQ in her columns, books and podcasting and speaking and had to deal with being canceled.
