Quick forks adjusting tip: It's very hard to adjust the side to side movement of the forks in the level position due to the friction on the bottom rail from the weight of the forks hanging straight outwards. The trick is to raise the boom far enough that you can tilt the forks forward just enough to where you can see them swing loose from the bottom rail. Now all you have is the top of the forks contacting the top rail. There's no friction on the bottom whatsoever. Just open your notch latch and you will be able to effortlessly slide them side to side, sometimes with only two fingers.

Joe, you are getting better and definitely getting some seat time on the Bobcat. I drive a Hilo in a lumberyard and watching you reminds me of myself, with time it becomes natural, you become in tune with the machine and find its limits and how it reacts. Never loose fear and keep respect for the dangers but also enjoy it. It’s definitely fun moving 6,000lbs or more on a hi lo rated for around 9,000 lbs and then moving long LVLs or I joists, 48’ long stuff makes for some fun. Lol. Have a great day and stay safe.

It's always amazing that after an equipment purchase, you quickly get the feeling of how did I ever live with out this? Good work with working through the problem of turning the Axis with the FEL. I agree with you on doing a regen on a diesel motor. They tend to scream like a banshee while the regen process is going. I will say that is a much better option than having your tractor engine derate because you haven't done a regen to clean out the diesel particulate filter.

Hi Joe - it's Big Rodders in Ireland. I was away in Donegal and now just catching up on my viewing. I see a number of operators store their tractor implements on pallets to keep them and the ground better protected. Its a no cost preventative measure that may also assist the coupling process if your vision is improved.

Joe, as usual a nice video. I'll give you a suggestion for hooking implements onto the loader arms, once you have the implement in the upper V, lift the arms very slightly, then curl the pair up, as if you are curling the bucket up. That will help it engage almost all of the time. I know, I've been doing it for over 15 years.

Great vid. Enjoyed watching you fully utilize your machine. I bought a Bobcat CT230 in 2010 and it has served me well. Just upgraded to the CT4055…. Just waiting on the delivery. Not sure of your work flow, but why don’t you keep the forks on with a pallet and then just stack your split wood on the pallet as you split it? If you’re stacking wood on pallets after you split, that would save some time and your back. Thanks, Phil

Hey Joe. I do a lot of firewood, but I also do property maintenance and dirt work. This means that the tractor is my ultimate tool. I can drive to jobsites at 15mph over the road, dig, log, lift, and a million more things involving PTO (im in dairy country VT) etc. Firewood relies on the splitter, but my life relies on the tractor ahhaha. Thanks Joe good vids, you gave me the courage to increase my prices while still being competitive.

When you get the hands into pockets of the bucket, move slightly forward and only curl backwards to set it, do not lift until full retraction is reached. I'll do a small lift and an immediate drop to make sure everything is set AFTER it's curled inward all the way before I get near the bucket to set the locks. Good on you for learning anyways. You may make fun of yourself but I think you are doing a fine job with it. When I first turned the seat on a backhoe I slammed the bucket into my truck that I bought a week earlier. All things compared, you're doing better than I did when I first started.

I think it may help you connect SSQA if you boom down lower and get your quick attach plate about 20 degrees more vertical as you approach. Try not to boom up before curling.

You maybe could have saved a lot of money by putting a loader on it instead of getting a different one. That is a VGC Ford 2000. I had looked at a loader for it but honestly they look pretty Mickey Mouse. I don't think it would have worked effectively

@@ohiowoodburner you are right. I thought it might have been a 3000 model. My dad had a 2000 just like it on the farm when I was a little kid that he bought brand new. Being only 2 wheel drive you would have had to put 1500 pounds of ballast on it to probably be able to do what the Bobcat is able to do. I would enjoy it if you would do a video of it sometime. It brings back a lot of great memories. 😀😀

Hi James McKay - it's Big Rodders in Ireland. I operate a foot operated vertical splitter. In the past I have split for 6 hours using my right foot on the pedal and there are no issues - and I have lower back problems. As an aside, I broke my right knee in my first motorcycle accident 50 years ago and on one occasion I operated the splitter pedal with my left foot for the day with my weight on the right leg - I could hardly walk the next day so I learnt quickly to only operate the lever with my right foot!

So I'm searching for tractors, and i searched your machine and this pops up. Would you still buy the 40 hp, or go bigger? I'm not as big as you but want to up my game in the next few years and wanna save my back😂😂.

I would totally get the 40 hp again. I would possibly consider the smaller one to avoid emissions but I hear they are noticeably less in power. I love this tractor. perfect for me

To bad you didn't have go jacks or wheel dollies. The more switch from bucket to forks and back the better than you will get. You will be a pro at it before you know.
