This was one of my favorite deep cuts of Billy Joel. The lyrics are very touching of the heart, but the tune is so harmonically rich that to hear you play it with such passion it still touches the my soul. Thanks Tommy.

This song, and indeed, this very performance of it are what persuaded me to try to play fingerstyle. At last here was an arrangement that an ordinary person might be able try! Even then, that bridge still defeats me. What technique! Flawless. Whole thing delivered with such integrity. No need to be over the top flashy. The playing and the song itself speak to the soul.

Great pick for a cover, Tommy! I knew this one from The King's Singers, also a cover... They did lots of covers of ballads that have great melodies. I heard them in Eindhoven when they did The Good Vibrations tour.* kzbin.info/www/bejne/nHikYqqdrtepobs As an old Shadows fan, like you and Phil, I always look at the melody first for rating a song. That's why I consider rap not to be music, but rhythmic poetry, I guess. I mean: have you EVER even CONSIDERED playing a guitar cover of a rap number? I haven't... because melodically it's NOTHING.
