That bullet dodge at 2:02:01 was incredibly impressive for a first time player. This is one of the most skillful starts I have seen on a first playthrough with no experience of how the missions are scripted. It’s refreshing to finally see someone actually making an effort to not get shot and not being ashamed to use deadeye. Hats off to you and I will surely continue watching after this

I think I owe the skill to playing RDR1 right before this one! So I knew the controls a bit even though there are some significant changes and upgrades. Thank you!

I’ll echo the sentiment , going through this game slowly is the way to go. There will be people who hate this though, who’ll only want you to do the main missions…. You can do that, but you’ll miss like a whole lot, like more than half the game, maybe even more than that is in all the side stuff you can find. There’s a place for instance, you can experience something there, and it gives you a hint of another place to go, you have to wait until late into the night in game time to get the pay off… if someone is rushing around, they’ll miss it. That said, I don’t think it’s possible to catch everything in one play through. There’s still things we are still finding out about that are in the game 6 years after the game being released, there’s just so much to find!

RDR2 is one of the most well written games ever with insane level of voice acting and Arthur Morgan is one of the GOATS 9:15 This is what the stranger man was talking about when he first met John in RDR1, The Blackwater massacre is one of the most crucial moments in RDR universe but its story is vaguely told
@b.u.l.17346 ай бұрын
Yeah, one of my favorite aspects of both RDR games is the fact that we never see what happened at the ferry, the so called 'Blackwater Massacre' of 1899. We only get snippets of what happened and that makes it much more meaninful and mysterious.

Your playthrough will be so pleasant to follow! Already your introduction, where you talked about taking it slow and getting immersed, made me happy. Yes, this is definitely the best way to enjoy this game! Talk to everybody, often. Walk, ride, take in the world! Let the game's slow pace be a blessing. The only thing you really _don't_ need to care about is the mission checklists (bronze/silver/gold awards) - those are meant more for achievement hunters or possibly for a second playthrough. Otherwise they're totally unimportant, and occasionally even distract from the full experience (rewarding quick completion time, which is contrary to full immersion).
@kaliwali6 ай бұрын
Thank you for easing my mind about the achievements! I guess it brings an added layer of newness when replaying the game (as if this game even needed that lol) so I won't worry about the awards this playthrough. Thank you for watching :)

So yeah, like the Strange Man said in RDR 1 and Javier says here in RDR 2, John was shot during the ferry heist (he was shot in the arm, if you look closely he has a bandage on it) and since we know from a newspaper article from RDR 1 that Landon Ricketts was somehow involved in the Blackwater Massacre my headcanon is that he decided to get involved in stopping the robbery (either to help the law or as self-defense) and shot at Dutch's gang, shooting John in the arm during the chaos as a result. 12 years later, John and Ricketts meet in Mexico again without either of them knowing they crossed paths before.

@mitchellriner35226 ай бұрын
Friendly tip you can often get in on the conversations that gang members are having with each other if you just stand near them instead of listening from afar. And more than likely you can press greet on each participant in the conversation to say something afterwards that’s relevant to it or unique for that conversation alone. On rare occasions it will be the antagonize button. Not only that but after each and every mission there will be unique dialogue you can trigger with various camp members regarding recent events. Try your hardest not to miss dialogue from Arthur as they spent a lot of time recording so so much and I missed way more than I heard on my first playthrough

Also, characters you interact with will remember you throughout the game and what you did to them. There's a lot of foreshadowing in the dialogue that you wouldn't know if you played this first. Something I always praise Rockstar for is just how much the worlds in their games feel “lived in”. Nothing feels random, arbitrary, or copy-pasted. Like even inside the homes / train / etc, looking at the loot, it doesn’t feel like it was placed there just randomly for you to pick up. And instead feels like the person who lives there placed it there themselves. All these things were present in RDR1 for sure, but even more so here. And playing RDR1 first before moving on to this really allows us to see the incredible work Rockstar did to take the world they already had and expand it so deeply. I feel like this is an absolute paradise for you, getting to take your time and appreciate all the little details they put in. I'm soooo excited for this playthrough, for however long we're on this ride. The longer the better haha For as sad as the ending of RDR1 was, getting to see John, Abigail, and Jack again among the others too just helps to ease that pain a little bit. Getting to spend that extra time with them again. And the way each of those characters were deliberately introduced here to us one at a time, made it even more special seeing them again Also, I love the background image you chose for this series' thumbnails! The horse reminds me so much of one I chose for myself when I was playing this :)

Yes! I even felt it in Red Dead Redemption 1 how lived in the world was. And now that we're in RDR2, WOW. Just wow. This game brings looting and curiosity to a whole new level 🤣 And I do agree that seeing the Marstons again helped ease the heartache of RDR1's ending. But after seeing how John reacts to Abigail and little Jack being pushed aside by him, I get now why John was so harsh on himself in RDR1. He really wasn't a great husband or father.. But it makes me appreciate his character arc that much more. What did you name your horse!? It took me 20 whole minutes to decide a name lol

Hahaha oh boy I remember sitting on the horse naming screen for so long. So the first one, which we'll see you get in today's episode, I called Alex.... because it's a Morgan.... so Alex + Arthur Morgan was perfect 🤣 And then the all-black one I was referring to, that I got later and ended up being my favorite horse I owned, I called Deimos!

Everytime I see that someone is doing a playthrough of this game it makes me want to play it again.

My biggest tip i can give at this stage is looting *while* fighting once you hit end cutscenes of missions a huge chunk of the dead bodies will despawn giving you less loot overall. Now this isn’t *super* important but it will make purchasing weapons provisions and even donating to the camp much much easier in the long run. Overall I know you’ll love this game I can’t wait for the rest of the journey kali!

This style of play can get in the way at times so just keep your head on a swivel for your gang and how hard they’re getting pelted as well as timed missions I wouldn’t recommend it it’s kind of a feel for if it’s possible you’ll definitely learn the cues n nuances for when you can do it and when you can’t I bet you’ll understand them in no time. But trust me it is definitely worth while

great tip for a loot goblin! thank you :)

Absolutely DO NOT rush through this game. Take your time, explore the environment, hang around at camp to interact with the characters, do all the side missions etc etc. Rushing through this game is a surefire way to lose out on a magnificent experience and at worst get frustrated and bored because of the gameplay loops that can get monotonous if youre only going from mission to mission

Hey Kali, great to see you playing this! Especially after finishing rdr1. Just a small tip: when riding with a companion, make sure not to ride too fast because you could miss some dialogue.

38:10 actually Javer here is talking about the same girl the strange man talks about in rdr1. They are in fact referring to the same robbery

I just love how much of a shithead John is throughout a significant part of this game, specially to Abigail and Jack (keep an eye out for John's camp interactions), it makes his redemption arc in RDR 1 so much more poignant. Also, Uncle is legit one of the most underrated characters, he probably has the funniest camp conversations in this game, lol.

I caught on to a bit of craphead John's personality throughout the next episode (releasing tomorrow) and woooooww.. What a redemption arc! I was NOT expecting him to treat Abigail or Jack that way

@@kaliwali Yeah, when John said in RDR 1 that he "hadn't been much of a father" to Jack he really meant it, lol.

I wish I could experience this game for the first time again. Greatest game ever made. Greatest storyline. Greatest protagonist.

Whenever the animal screams as it’s dying, it scares off every animal within a 10 mile radius anyways 😉😂
