During the ensuing off season, Ozzie had Clark on his local St. Louis tv show and they discussed the fight. Neither harbored any ill will (no pun intended) and chalked it up to heat of the moment. I was a fan of both players.

Easy. Because helicopter parenting wasn’t the form. Now you get whiny Millennials and Zoomers arguing on Twitter behind a keyboard. They act like literal man children. Completely different from how men handled fights back in the 70s - 90s. Today you just got a bunch of male feminists shouting on the internet.
@brianschaffer9220
@brianschaffer9220 2 жыл бұрын
Also in the 70s, 80s, and 90s, you might to probably get ejected, unlikely if you don't start the fights and would be lucky to get a one, at worst, two game suspension for a big brawl. Nolan Ryan, the one who did all the clobbering in the 1993 fight, didn't even get ejected. Now it's pretty much minimum 3 for repeated intentional HBP or charging the mound, starting it or not. So they stop unless they are really pissed off!

I'm not one for lots of rule changes but it's my opinion that if you hit anyone in the neck or head, whether intentional or not, you should be ejected from the game and suspended without pay for 5 starts or 25 team games. Hitting a batter in the neck or head is unacceptable. Teams should also be fined a ton of money also.
