Hey Polo, I’m a black guy and I didn’t get into metal until I went into the military. I had a similar experience to yours as far as a main stay of music . But , as I got older in the military man my ears were having so many earorgasm’s it was awesome so it’s been 26 years in deep now and never looked back . I’m always trying to bring that experience to other black guys and others for that matter onto what we’ve been missing. It’s some of the greatest music ever in my opinion. So it’s cool I came across your channel and I’ll think of a few more bands you should check out , Metallic is awesome there music will never get old , it’s timeless and it kicks azz every time . Yeah . Can’t wait to see more of your videos and I’ll send some suggestions on other bands and even other types of music I think you will enjoy as well. 🤘🏾

I'm a white chick from Seattle. I had that white-privilege millennial in a big liberal city thing of not thinking about race that much while I was in school (listening to Metallica in middle school), but it felt like the local tensions in that regard got expressed between classmates with strict allegiances to either the rock or hip-hop worlds. I get the context for it much better now, but on basic human sadness level, I wish we could have just shared what we loved across the divide. It makes me so happy that we get to now, wherever we are at. It makes all our lives richer.

@@ScreeFi440 You are so right , I wish we would’ve as well by the time I got to college my cd binder had all types of music, I was the weird black guy that listened to rap, hip hop, metal. I still can go from listening to Slipknot to Jay Z. As long as I’m grooving it’s all good to me…. And you are so right I’m glad now we can still have a chance to grow and learn from each other without the typical stereotype. Rather we jam Nine Inch Nails or some Sir Mix A lot , then listen to Prince. I’m even loving me some country music. It never ends and the best part is , it doesn’t have too

It's so awesome to read your response to this. It's a shame that there is such a divide when it it comes to music. I listen to many different genres of music. My main preferences are classical, classic rock, metal, big band jazz. I used to like rap music when it was fun.

Been a Metallica fan since the 80s(im old) when I first heard S&M I heard this version while I was driving, I had to pull over I was so emotional I was brought to tears! So powerful with all the orchestra and James and the guys it blends two genres of music perfectly. Masterful and a classic for years and generations to come

"I've never been to any concert ever" is a bizarre string of words for anyone who enjoys music to actually say. Listening to music is a wonderful thing, at home with a good stereo; experiencing music in a live format is an entirely different life experience to behold. Metallica's S&M was released in 1999 and it's my all time favorite performance by them to listen to. My significant other was there, for both concerts. No matter how much I love to listen to the recordings and I have no doubt I've listened to them more than she has...NOTHING could compare to being in that room, on those nights. I remain envious to this day. Get thee to a Metallica concert ASAP! Only then will you hear the music AND feel it in your bones...and that, makes the world of difference.

My first concert was during the Ole' poor touring me tour.. I was alone and as a fanboy and guitarist I kinda lost it when James jumped off the stage and ran around the stage high fiving people.... When he came near me I reached for his guitar.... He slapped my hand away and gave me a very stern look!.. he stuck his hand out towards me and I shook it .. I felt his pick inside his fingers and I instinctively RIPPED it out of his hand! He glared at me for half a second with SO much anger then a second later ran straight onto the stage to his mic stand... To get a new pick! All ya'll that didn't get a high five or a hand shake in E town during that tour... You are welcome!! On a very sad side note I kept that pick safe for years... That ticket was a father's day present for me from my Mrs.... The kids stole and lost the pick playing with my guitar stuff a few years later.... I would not call if karma as I fully enjoyed every moment I owned that pick.. james forgot what I did two shows later at the most. :P.

I remember when their were in the studio recording Nothing Else Matters for the Black album. Their PD at that time had an orchestra melody in the background of the song and the band lowered it to the minimum cause they found it classical. It was a fight between the PD and the band. Loved when they did this live with the SFS! Listen the full album, you will love it! So many are top notch!

As I said on your original reaction to this song, Nothing Else Matters and One are dual winners of my top spot, tied as my favorite Metallica songs. Both are like no other songs in their discography. I feel fortunate in my life, having been exposed to numerous cultures, races, and classes, as well as their music. I've been poor, and well off (though never rich). I've lived in upscale suburbs and inner-city urban areas. And that exposure gave me an appreciation for everything from Rock (in all its forms), Pop, Soul, Jazz, R&B, Hip-Hop, Rap, Folk, Bluegrass, Classical, Electronica, etc., etc., etc. To me, all music is great. Or, at least all music genres are. Can't rightfully claim every song is...😏🤣

I think the song Orion is so good on its own that when they tried adding symphony orchestra to it, it just gets in the way and dilutes the song. This should tell you how good some of the Metallica songs already were on their own. Not only were renowned orchestras willing to sit in with them and the songs meshed pretty well, but some fans also consider adding the orchestras a downgrade.
