I had almost everything you mentioned! The only thing I didn’t see on the list is insanely vivid and really disturbing/weird dreams during hypersleep where I had no idea I was asleep. It was so odd to remember the craziest dream but not to remember that I had slept at all. I used to really think that must have been a "sign" of something very, very bad. I call it hypersleep now because I have much more knowledge. I had absolutely NO idea what was happening back then.

I think he mentioned it in the last 4 mins of the video (hallucination), BTW same here, kind to know how to deal with it, but sometimes gets more intensive. I wish Daniel make a video only about it.

@@MrZezoo511 This would be such a great topic for a video! I agree that it does quite feel like hallucinating. At this point, I think I see it a bit differently-like I did sleep, but I just don't remember sleeping. So, whatever was experienced is just a dream from a sleep I don’t recall. It happens rarely for me now, but when it does, I just normalize it and assume I had a bit more hyperarousal than usual. I think one of the best ways to deal with it is to assume that it’s completely normal-though I know that can sometimes be hard!

These videos are a treat and a psychological medicine for me 😅. Before I found SCS I thought my insomnia "symptoms" were bizarre and rare. I had the frequent urination one which was so bad that id be getting up every 15 minutes or so in an hour and that happened all the time i was in bed, my parents would be annoyed by it 😭. I mean i understood that I had given myself this habit (to stop myself from thinking and just get up and freshen up) but the way it stuck with me and was the reason of my crazy hypnic jerks and palpations ughh im so glad it's behind me now. Tinnitus was also something common but once this peeing habit start I didn't experience it much. My hands and soles get really sweaty and especially when im anxious and that would also signal that i have to pee. So sweaty palms and soles aren't that uncommon. These days sleeping isn't that difficult its just my brain is still in disbelief that sleep is an automatic and passive process requiring not much effort. like I'm drifting slowly or am in that stage just before rem sleep and deep down my brain is amazed and denial that it can happen. 🤣 It's like waiting for something to show up which is how i understand is my reduced hyperarousal stil lingering. There must be something else that could pop up is embedded deep now. I think this is a sign that im in "recovery" now.

Initially I felt the sensations as soon as I layed down. I would take a few deep breathes and just go. Just being aware that it is happening because of anxiety and thinking about times when I would have to pee a lot like during exams (before it would start, in the middle of it and once it ended) because these were the most stressful time for me. Instead of seeing this habit as a thréat I started accepting it and telling myself well there's no actual dangér but whatever. This mental training of not resisting the sensations actually helped me. Not only I started going less it helped me get out this cycle because trust me I was terrified of even lying down for the féar that the whole thing would keep on going. So now I'm at that point where peeing doesn't bother me much. If I have to go i go and when im asleep I don't even get up because of it. This is going to take time so pls be kind to yourself. Can anyone relate to this? I've been dealing with insomnia for 10 months now. During this time, it hasn’t always been bad nights. There have been months when I’ve slept well, getting 6-7 hours of sleep (but sleep is fragmented as I wake up 2-3 times in between). I'd say I sleep well about 45-50% of the time. In May, August, and November, I slept relatively well, 6-7 hours most night, but my sleep was fragmented, as I would wake up in between and there are other months when I’ve really struggled, mainly with initiating sleep, getting only 3-4 hours, or even experiencing sleepless nights. What I’m trying to say is that over these 10 months, I haven’t suffered every single night. I’ll sleep well for a month, then start struggling again, then sleep well, and then struggle. It’s been like that.

I will add ear worms, constant songs playing in the head, burning tongue, blurry or distorted vision, vivid dreams.
@Sunflowersarepretty26 күн бұрын
This yes!! But I always assume that since I like to distract myself and listening to songs or watching shows to keep me going is why it all replays in my head. Like I already know from enough experience that sleep won't come that easy and this is the only escape that I have and so it happens on it's own as a distraction so I'm not worried about hypnic jerks or moments before we fall in sleep 🤷🏻♀️

Hi Daniel thanks so much for your videos, which helped me so much this time last year in my recover. I am now having a speed bump again, and struggling not to obsess over the question of whether to take HRT. I am 46 and insomnia is my only peri-menopause symptom. However I think there's a hormonal component and a private clinic has offered me HRT .... I think my real question is whether you know any resources for women of a peri-menopausal age that have a similar philosophy to you.... I'm struggling to know whether HRT is really a healthy choice for me.... and it's so challenging to navigate this without specific support around this, especially when I haven't slept! Thanks so much.

Hey Daniel! I have been having issues with tossing and turning all night long all while being kind of asleep and aware of the tossing and turning at the same time. I’m wondering if this is hyper sleep? It’s like I can sleep but it’s not deep and it’s just constant tossing and turning for hours until my body decides it’s had enough and I need to wake up. @thesleepcoachschool819213 күн бұрын

Hi Ann, hang in there. I'd say its about courage and kindness. The courage to say "If I get zero sleep, this will be an opportunity to teach myself that even this is safe to experience" can really help. Saying "I'm not wanting to pressure myself now, I will stay home from work a bit more" as an act of self kindness, this too can help so much. It's about understadning, education, this leads to where we want to be

@thesleepcoachschool819221 күн бұрын
Hi there, sorry to hear this but - it is very common and the answer is to meet it like we meet any other fear of something harmless: willingness to experience it without trying to escape. This teaches our brain that fear is safe, and we become less afraid of being afraid
