This is really cool. The nice little melody and progressions are excellent and it really feels like it was pulled straight from a movie or cut scene for a lovely little video game. Thank you for sharing!

Very nice composition! My one question is why no dynamic markings?
@andyzhanmusic2 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I had to add a lot of excessive dynamic markings to make the playback sound good, so including them looked too messy 😅

@@andyzhanmusic that’s fair enough! I do find that to be the case with noteperformer, still a wonderful piece of software though!

Hey, I don't know if you will read this, but what is the term for the inner voicing of the brass section in bar 48-49? 1:54 It's soo beautiful in the context of the passage. If music is a language then that brass movement is a sentence saying "you hurt me". I'm sorry idk any music theory so I always represent music with emotion hehe.
@andyzhanmusic2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your lovely comments! I don't know if there's a specific term for it but it's a movement from a B minor-major 7 chord (B D F# A#) to the B minor 7 chord (B D F# A) The chords are the same except one note - the A# -> A - and the emotion you feel comes from that movement But I'm definitely like you in that I think of it more in terms of emotion than theory! I didn't think much about the theory when writing it. I'm glad the emotion came through :)

Hey Andy, can you teach me some things regarding orchestration and composition? It's all on you though

Hi! I'm currently working on a video about composition (although it's taking a while to make - I've had to order a new laptop since my current one can't handle video editing haha) But if you have any composition/orchestration questions in the meantime, just ask and I'll do my best to help!

@@andyzhanmusic Thank you so much for replying, I'll make sure to watch the video beforehand, and I'll ask more questions if needed. Thanks again!

do you think composing a piece for solo piano and then orchestrating it after is a sufficient way to start composing for orchestra?
@andyzhanmusic2 жыл бұрын
I like to start with piano sketches when I compose for orchestra! Personally, I usually don't make a full piano piece though as I like to always think in terms of the instruments that will play each line, and the texture of a piano piece can be quite different. But it's still a very valid way to write for orchestra - after all, there's a lot of great orchestral arrangements of pieces that were originally for piano. So I'd say to go for it if you feel like this method suits you!

@@andyzhanmusic thank you for this! i am planning on doing some of my first orchestral composition within the next few years so this will help a lot!
