This movie is a cult classic! They made fun of 80s-90s romance in the film throughout that how a hero used to harass the girl inorder to make her fall in love with him and in movies how this villains were so stupid but shown like a very terrifying person.Thats why this movie was made so over the top..loud acting,funny music sequences,multi-themed plotlines etc... Movie was way ahead of its time and gained so much popularity over time🙌

Good catch, Andrew. There were a lot of behind the scenes fights on sets and so the film was shot over a long period of time - which affected the continuity of the film. That’s why Salman’s hair keeps changing. 😂

This is not an easy watch for the newly acquainted Western audience. It is steeped in classic Indian comedy culture with a lot of Bollywood history references thrown in. The subtitles need additional notes. "Saara sheher mujhe Bhalla ke naam se jaanta hai" can only be spoken by the actor (Shehzad Khan) who relives his real life father (Ajit)'s iconic line. It is impossible to grasp the nuance of that scene without this knowledge. The legendary Mehmood is continuing his futile "Pyar Kiye Jaa- circa1967" days as a wannabe director.

The real genius of this movie is not Aamir or Salman. Its Rajkumar Santoshi the director. These 2 were IN with the goofy acting. It was Rajkumar Santoshi that showed them how to do each goofy scene. Genius director.

"Andaz Apna Apna" was an experiment of that time. Because at that time only full package movie used to run successfully. It means love, action, drama, comedy everything used to happen in one movie. Love story of hero and heroine, the villain who disturbs their love, then fighting with the villain and getting his girlfriend back. But there was a comedy part of the movie which was kept for a little entertainment. But making a complete comedy movie, this was a challenge as well as risk for the makers. And that's what happened, people did not understand the movie that much. But after some time when this movie came on TV channel, people liked it a lot.

@ well it definitely wasnt a flop film, It earned 21 crores as profit if you adjust with today’s inflation. The movie was cliche bollywood,, but thats what adds to it its charm,, if you try to rewatch it. Plus Salman’s acting was top notch.
