I was hoping Fender would release a new vibro champ. With a 10 inch speaker this is more like a Princeton baby Junior Junior than a vibro champ! I think what makes the original champ so great is how it records with that 8 inch speaker! @MichaelHattem
@MichaelHattem Ай бұрын
I've had my VCR for a year and it's been fantastic. The best way to think of it is: it's like a Princeton but you can hit the sweet spot (around 4-5) at home. I run mine with a Weber MiniMass attenuator, which allows me to crank it to 10 at a home volume and it sounds glorious (because at 5 watts you don't need to push the attenuator so hard it kills the tone). With the amp at 10 and my guitar volume dimed, my RW Tele will be on the edge of breakup and my LP with P90s gets that classic late 60s Stones-ish moderate overdrive. Because of the 10" speaker instead of an 8", it's less a Champ than it is a smaller Princeton, with all the tones you'd expect from it.

@@bigtsshackfestival9563 I got it. It’s great. I replaced the speaker with a wgs warehouse10 even though it didn’t need it, and I might go back to stock. Louder than you might think, and take out that useless rack and tighten everything in the cab, or you’ll have significant rattle. The power tube blew after about a year, so we’ll see if that keeps happening. If so an amp tech can fix it. But in my opinion (I do have lots of amps including a vintage 1965 twin reverb) this version of a champ is a sleeper!

for bands on budget: Can you connect 2 guitars to amp with 2 inputs? There is a difference betw vibrato and tremolo. The built in are tremolo ie moduling the output power (volume) while vibrato is modulation of pitch, as I anderstand it. Both types can modulate in different cycles/second.

wondering if they fixed the noise issues in these new 68 amps? the 68 deluxe always suffered from a lot of noise and that kept me away from purchasing that amp.

If you had to choose ONE - this new VC 68 Custom (mex) OR the US made 57 Custom Champ which would you go for if money was not a deciding factor? For recording, practice, small gigs, ease of future repair, and pure tone. Thank you!

I’ve owned the 57 and recently played the 68 - I’d definitely go with the 68! It’s a great sounding amp, sounds big for a smaller amp, the reverb and trem are great, and to me it just sounded better, but I am partial to the blackface sound over Tweeds as is.

The little Vibro amp sounded fantastic. Not sure if it was how the Pro Reverb was set or the micing or something but it sounded pretty muffled to me. Don't think you ever turned it up past 2'ish so that might have been the problem. Amps need to be driven some to sound their best. Would like to have seen it turned up like the Vibro was to see what happened. Love you guys enthusiasm for the gear. Great fun watching you two.

I had two of the Deluxes once. Sounded awesome. But insanely high noisefloor 🙄 Any thoughts on this regarding these ones?
