Jason, as well as other Millennial guitarists like Mateus Asato, Yvette Young, Sarah Longfield, Ichika Nito or Tosin Abasi, are proof that the art of guitar is safe and well. In fact, they are taking the guitar to the next level and are inventing their own styles. They will inspire future generations (together with the old heroes). Yup, the art of guitar is in good hands.

That's crazy about the Train of Thought album being his intro to this style of playing because I remember something similar happening to me back when I was in college. This shows how much older I am as compared to Jason but I had been playing guitar for a year or so mostly playing covers of rock and nu metal bands when I heard that album. It was my first introduction to Dream Theater and that lead to me discovering many other progressive rock/metal bands over the years. Sadly I never really learned to play like any of them but I learned enough to be able to have a deeper appreciation for what they were doing musically.

Great interview. I really enjoy the natural progression of questions, and the lack of pretence from both these guys. It’s very interesting to hear about what got players to gravitate to what they’re currently doing. I always discover some cool stuff every time I listen to this show. BTW, Jason’s most recent album is dope AF!

Check out The Arena or Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy. It's not his songs, just covers of Lindsey Stirling songs

Not a big fan of his solo work either. Listen to Born of Osiris’ Discovery album. The song Behold/XIV is INSANE!!

On that Andertons interview binge..Jason’s playing is absolutely terrifying. Would love to see Russ Parrish (Satchel) be interviewed by you..but obviously they do everything in character and I’ve heard they’ve knocked it back before. Grr!
