If you prefer open back, then you can go for a Lonestar cabinet. The Lonestar head can be equipped with either EL34 or 6L6. You just flip a switch in the back. I don't use the drive channel; I just color the tone using pedals; zen drive by Hermida, BB pre-amp, TS-808. You can just get your tone as you imagine it... And not a single issue with the Amp, all these years. Still works and looks like new!

Walter Trout cannot be wrong. Has played MB for maybe 30 years or so. Generally a Mk4 without the EQ (flat) - gain and sustain are his targets from a Strat. Note: the Strat has 3 single coils (traditional) although they are specials from Seymour Duncan - not sure if you can buy them. He also uses a Delaney built Strat although it has a (real) vintage Fender neck he comments. This was to replicate his number one that he didn't want to risk on the road. With this set up he rarely if ever uses pedals even with the thin Strat ( Boogie takes care of that). He will create his own volume shift by rolling the pot and tone differences with his attack on the strings (or lack of it) and where he pics the note in relation to the pickups. As he says - 'I've spent 30 years trying to learn what the guitar can do, because that's what I can control playing live' The Boogie does the rest. Note: he does get hum / buzz which is inevitable with single coils and a high gain tube amp but he wont revert to noiseless single coils (like Prince did) - he feels that the hum is part of the guitars character.

Fillmore owners… is it too loud for bedroom levels? 😅

Nice demo chaps . What’s the likelihood of the Rectoverb 25 combos being in stock before civilisation is brought to its knees by bumbling oafs/zombie apocraplipses ? 😁

Love my fender twin but I’m looking for a fat overdrive tone (as in Santana). What pedals would you recommend?
