All the comments about Gibson repeating themselves but when they tried to make a Les Paul for the 21st century they got slated. The whole reason that it is so popular is because it is what it is,there are only so many things you can change. There are plenty of people who love it for what it is

This. I worked in music retail in the middle of the 2010s and I can't tell you how many customers I had come in absolutely slating their new lineup (albeit we stopped stocking them because their stocking requirements became absolutely ridiculous), and here we are 10 years later with the same thing starting to crop up with people begging them to do something different before they inevitably do and then people will find fault in that too. Don't get me wrong some of the things they brought to the table clearly didn't work, like the robo tuners, wider neck profile and price increase to name a few. But I can guarantee even if they just released a Standard model where the neck heel had more of a modern sculpt, super weight relieved or they released a model with different options for wiring or different pickup configurations, you'd again have people saying "That isn't a true Les Paul! Bring the Les Paul back!!!!" Rinse and repeat.

Stop puking back up what you heard other ppl say man- did you even work at a shop- really? I doubt it, I think you heard Josh Scott say this- admit it, you're one of those JHS warriors that runs around puking back up what you heard Josh say as if it's your own sentiments. Well, when you and Josh can explain the popularity of the Explorer, the Firebird, and the Flying V- neither of which look anything remotely like a LP or a Strat- maybe you'll have a point. I would say that when Gibson gets it right and doesn't just do something different for different's sake- they sell like hot cakes. But yeah, when they make junk just to be able to say they are producing something other than Les Paul's or SGs- ppl don't buy it, go figure.
@jmledesma8815 сағат бұрын
@ projecting much? hahahaah I worked for a bit over three years at a store, we carried both Gibson and Fender and their Custom Shops and import (Epi and Squier) and family (Kramer, Gretsch, Jackson, Charvell) brands. We also had Ibanez, PRS, D'Angelico, Yamaha, Guild, Duesenberg, Danelectro, ESP, LTD and some more. Same in acoustic plus Martin, Alhambra, Sigma and a few more, though no Taylor. As for sales, it was quite consistent. Contrary to what many people think most consumers just own one or two (electric) guitars, maybe in their lifetime. Or maybe they had some as kids but by the time they can afford a Gibson they maybe don't play as much or have other things going on in their lives. A lot of people just want the one their idols had. It's quite funny though that they'd usually go for the 60s Standard while I think it doesn't sound anything like a reissue model. But again, many were older men not having played in a while, so slimmer necks make sense I guess. It's also curious that we sold quite a lot more of Gibson's Custom Shop than Fender's CS, even being quite a bit more expensive. But well, I guess you know more of everything angry man behind a keyboard traumatised by little Josh.
@joegearing17459 сағат бұрын
Yeah, I went through 3 les pauls before getting a V, SG, and Explorer. I love them all, but if I had to sell them I'd get rid of the V, then the Explorer, then the SG, and I'd hang on to that les paul for as long as possible.
@jmledesma887 сағат бұрын
@@joegearing1745 I personally never had a Les Paul because I'm not a huge fan of the shape, or maybe I'm just to skinny and long and it just looks weird on me. Also maybe because I felt Slash which was the biggest Les Paul player I knew when I just started playing as a teen was a bit cheesy. In any case, after a few years of playing I realised I didn't want to have the same guitar as my idols and just wanted to try different things, so from the Strat I started playing with and the SG I had thereafter I went through a Squier P90Tele Custom, Epi ES345, Godin 5th Ave., Epi Sorrento, Fender Tele, Squier Jazzmaster and several acoustics until I got settled on a Casino and a Jazzmaster style P90 guitar, build by myself. But I'm far from the ordinary guy that just plays as a hobby, learns lead solos at home alone and so. I worked with a wedding band and busking for over four years and was always relating with musicians and the local music scene. In any case, after years of working at the store and, specially, after having proper Gibsons instead of Epi's in my hands daily, setting them up, unboxing, trying out and selling Custom Shop Reissues and seeing them in person every day, I started getting it. I still wouldn't get a Standard USA model and right now I can't afford a Reissue but I admit that I get it now. I get what all the fuzz is about.

This guy has the capability to be a good presenter, but man, he really needs to educate himself about some of the fairly simple historical details (pickup construction, colours originally available on different models, etc.), and he needs to be more knowledgeable about what models and colours will be available for new launches. That's the whole point of him being there is to know that stuff, and to inform people about what is new for 2025. Also, I can't believe he didn't mention the Platypus Firebird. Hopefully he's better next year. Other than that, the guitars sound good, and I am intrigued by those P-90 DC double coil noiseless pickups in the Warren Haynes guitar. Lee makes a really good point... the only people who care about these are the collectors. I know that wasn't the point he was making, but doing a limited run of a reissue with only 500 pieces feel like Gibson is only tapping into a very niche audience and that's why not many people really care anymore about the name.

Gibson has turned into Harley-Davidson, just rehashing the same models and selling to boomers

If you think Gibsons are expensive now wait until Trump imposes increased tariffs on various country’s exporting of materials to make a Gibson or any other American guitars. American companies will pass the added expense to the consumers.

Oh look! Gibson released more moldy old Boomer guitars. Who da thunk?

Guitar companies are unique, makers of say, microwaves, lawn mowers, and bicycles, know they will sell one unit and not hear from that customer again for years. But guitar makers depend on hobbyists buying models continually until they have a roomful…

Astute! I’ve always stated - there is as much fun in loving collecting and enjoying guitars as works of art - as there is in playing them. I think that’s why gibson are so pervasive. Their designs are timeless works of art, and you can really feel it when you have a proper one.

1) What's your point? Oh, and by the way, hobbyists don't fill their rooms with 20 practically identical Gibsons costing $5000 a piece!

Gibson should be ASHAMED of themselves for FIRING Randall Smith. That’s the same thing as snubbing Orville Gibson. Without Randal, there would be no “new metal”. They should publicly apologize and bring him back. I was going to spend dang near $10-$11k on a Les Paul Custom, now I’m buying a couple new Fender VII’s and a Rolex. Cezar is nothing but a corporate shill and things have gone to crap since JC has left.

Nooo 50's neck profile! I wish we'll see these noiseless p90s also in other models.. anyway is almost impossible to buy a Gibson here in Italy, twice the price in 10 years (but salaries unchanged)

Gibson Les Paul! I got a lot more guitars 5 old Kramer's! Before I buy one of them greatly overpriced Les Paul that you can only make a few music sounds out of!

@@johnhotz1400 🤣🤣 you could buy like 32 Squiers for one of these limited 1955 Les Pauls, you should do that.

@@johnhotz1400 yeah, also why get a Les Paul, regardless humbuckers or P90, you can barely get one or two sounds out of them. Get yourself some active DiMarzio or Fishman and enjoy the dynamics 🤯
