14:42 He didn't start using that kind of pickup just because he wanted a change of pickup. It's because he moved to 24 frets, which meant a humbucker had to move "back" towards the bridge, which meant the sound would change somewhat. - So he figured to push "forward" the pickup-area as much as possible, he could use a single-coil sized humbucker and also have it pushed as much up against the end of the fretboard as possible. - This is to try and retain that more full and rounded sound you'd get with a humbucker on a 22-fret guitar.
@EdwoodCA3 жыл бұрын
Exactly, yes. Plus, the he had the extra bit of fretboard that most guitars have, past the 24th fret, cut down to help with the position of the stacked humbucker, as well.

@@Icepacalapse I was watching an interview with BB King and Albert King on meeting Jimi Hendrix. One of the remarks by BB King really surprised me about Jimi. BB said he couldn't understand why Jimi didn't string the righty up as a lefty. So apparently he literally just took the guitar and flipped it over. Meaning all the strings were over the proper pole piece. I always assumed he just got a lefty nut and restrung the righty as a lefty... SRV used a lefty bridge in a righty body and righty neck.

Joes mom used to go to the drug store next to a deli I worked at when I was just starting college. Back in those days there was no iPhone. If you wanted pics you used 35mm film and dropped it off at the drug store for developing. I was in a band back then and had some band pics being developed. The lady who finished the roll for me saw some shots of me playing. She asked me if I knew who Joe Satriani was. Of course I said yes. She told me his mother comes in all the time. I thought it was cool but went on my way and didn’t think much. About two weeks later this older woman comes into the deli and asks for me. She said “I hear you are a fan of my son Joseph”. Didn’t register. Until she said “I’m Mrs Satriani.” We sat for about a half hour and talked. She was the sweetest woman and a very proud mom. The following month Joe was playing his first G3 tour. Mrs Satriani asked if I was going. I told her no. I was living on my own and barely had two nickels to run together. Well she wasn’t having it. I went to see G3 as her guest. I sat with her in the 5th row and after got to meet Joe and Vai. Kenny Wayne shepherd and Robert fripp were on that tour also but nowhere to be found back stage. I still have my ticket stub, pass and poster I had Joe and Steve sign. Mrs Satriani was a wonderful woman and I’ll never forget her smile or generosity.

Great concept. One more could spawn form here. Signature guitars vs their standard counter parts. That could help the potential buyers torn between std and Sig models to understand the differences and what to expect and what not to. How are guitars different or better than each other in tone, feel quality and of course a very valuable opinion on if it's worth to part with extra money, more often than not for the signatures. The newest les paul standards/traditionals vs their slash signature counter parts from both Gibson and epiphone could make for epic insightful 4 guitar video. and fans would get to hear them!!

I think it's more a matter that on a lot of these videos, they're all just noodling around and demoing a product they've played with for maybe 30 minutes before shooting. In this video, Rob and Bea are playing mostly covers from guitar gods. If you read the comments on as many videos as I've seen it always seems like people seem to get all glowy and happy whenever he and Lee do a cover tune even if most of them don't realize it. I've seen em do Skid Row a few times and 90% of the people commenting have no idea it's Skid Row and get all gushy.

ValkyrieBSG Dave Murray plays one, so not too crazy. I bet Vai goes to whoever gives him the most freedom or he drops it all for all simulated.

YES!!!! i could definatly hear the two different tones there and its like... the finest maranara with great grandmas pasta recipie married together to bring out such wonderful flacvors and brilliant colors...

Steve used to have his signature Carvin, but I don't know what's happening with that since Carvin is dead. In the 80s he used Marshalls, and he uses a Fender Super Sonic sometimes, so maybe?

He's basically said that if someone could make an amp with his sound (so basically make a new Legacy) then he'd go with them.
@dannyinaus6 жыл бұрын
I think he would want an amp that doesn't break down all the time. Victories are notoriously unreliable for gig playing. I guess you only play in a bedroom?

jupiter moongauge as a guitar player, we may argue. But as a songwriter, (lyrics, songs, ideals) producer and singer, Rory was on another level. Stevie was just a great great blues player

I own a Jem 7VWH and a Satriani JS1200CA. Both are absolutely amazing guitars. The Jem is super versatile and the Satriani is one of the most comfortable guitars I've ever played; probably only equaled by the EBMM Majesty. Loved this video guys!!!

I just love Satch's phrasing and melodic tunes. They really tell a story. Vai is just LOADED with technique and makes a guitar do things you never hear other people do, but I don't enjoy his compositions as much. Just a personal preference, but I've seen both in concert several times.

My humble opinion, but some of the best tone and guitar lead runs, I have seen Rob do, from 5:39 to 6:31. just loved the immediate atmosphere it created there, awesome stuff:) This was one of my favorite show's of yours, thanks for posting! p.s. Rabea is awesome too:)
