One thing that will take any guitar player's ability to the next level is focusing in on basic rhythmic subdivisions. From your basic quarter, eighth, and sixteenth notes to triplets in quarter, eighth, sixteenth, and so on. Check out some snare drum rudiments here on KZbin and apply the note values to your playing. You can sound like a pro over night.

I just bought a Supro Blues King 12 this past weekend. It is, for all intents and purposes, the Delta King without the racing stripes. I absolutely love it. Such great tones and versatility. @Howardsend88, well the main deciding factor was I got an extremely good buy on it. But I had been looking at the Blues King for a while. I have another Supro amp and have enjoyed it a lot, so I thought I’d give the Blues King a go. I’m glad I did. I like its unique tone. But it’s not so unique as to limit its versatility in multiple settings. It takes pedals nicely as well. I definitely recommend it.

@@tomwhittaker9461 these things sound great at living room levels - definitely depends on the type of pickups you’re running through it but it takes the humbuckers in my les Paul especially well through the clean channel. A good tip for getting more clean or usable volume a low wattage amp is to put a tube overdrive pedal set clean into the amp with the gain and volume on the amp around 3 or 4. Use the pedal for setting the volume. I run a Hiwatt tube distortion pedal into my little turd Bugera v5 this way with a Wampler Belle od and a Way Huge Saucy Box as my drives. It's 100% more usable. Feels like a bigger amp.

My clean will be my hot rod deluxe which is barely on 3 while plugged into input number one. I could see the Supro adding to my tone big time. It’s using a 6L6 is a plus since I have plenty of them in my stash for the hot rod. Great review guys.

I just played 2 gigs this weekend with the Delta King 12, and it held up like a champ. I cranked the master up and used the volume control to dial it in. Not a ton of headroom (compared to my Fender ‘68 deluxe) but it sounded amazing mic’d up for the front of house. The Supro has a wonderful “something” to it that I cannot describe in words. It just feels right under my fingers and puts a grin on my face. I cannot imagine anyone being disappointed in the 12. There are “all white” and “all black” versions around if the Adidas stripes offend your eyes.

It’s really good straight into my interface. I use Logic Pro (and a few plug ins) to get cab/room tones. I have a dedicated studio so I can play loud and mic the cab, too. I find the output straight into an interface/daw is capturing the best attributes of this amp. That’s to say the sonic character of the speaker/cab is “good” but not so good that you’ll miss it. It’s nothing special. The OD, boost, pre, and power amp section is 90% of this amp’s magic in my opinion. You get all that with direct output.

My main amp is a 30/15 w switchable, and that’s only a 3db drop. I usually find myself gigging at 15w.. But I do use the 30w for bigger venues and I’ve never needed more. They mic me if it’s needed, but it’s never needed. I’ve gigged with a 15w pro jr and was the heard over everybody else. Of course I’m the type that dimes everything all the way and rides my volume knob on the guitar. 15/30w is plenty and 10” speakers are totally under rated and more guitar players should give them a go. They have lots of punch. I really wanted to hear more of the 8” 1w amp, I want a small living room amp that I can crank and get that sound. Really want the old school lunchbox blues tone. Kind of disappointed they didn’t pay much attention to that one.

Sounds great. I bought the BK12 which is basically the same amp without the stripes and with an effects loop and its fantastic. Got it from Sweetwater during their Black Friday special this pass year for $299 which was a steal of a deal.😁👍 Love it.

Ditto! Also included the Cover and Footswitch. That was to get rid of the old and make room for the Delta KIng. Have to admit the Delta King does look great in the tweed.

Funny how the blues king didn't even get a full Andertons review and was basically overlooked, but now the identical amp with stripes on it is the dogs bllx.

Love the format of opening solos. Advantage Danish Pete, but Lee is sooo catching up.

Ended up buying a Delta 10 because of this review, (in tweed!) it's everything I need for what I do. I love the opening jam, Hey guys, any way i could get a copy of the backing track you used?? It would be great fun to jam to with my delta & P90's

I bought a Blues King 8 a year and half ago for $400 CAD (320 US, 232 GBP.) Pricey for a 1W amp, but I paid the same for my DSL1HR and H&K Tubemeister 5 head. I love all my small amps, but the BK8 is the easiest to use for bedroom noodling.

I have played guitar on loud gigs with a second guitarplayer bass and drums. I can concur that 15W EL84 with a single 12" will not give you enough clean headroom for a decent clean tone.. But for a driven rock sound no problem when using a loud celestion speaker. I use a 45W EL34 amp with a single 12.. This gives me a loud clean tone as a base tone.

Maaaan, these amps are lovely, but small cabins will always sound boxy. I love my Bassbreaker 30r in my living room. It is a thing of absolute beauty!

No these don't sound boxy at all because it's the wood they used for the cabinets ! I can't remember what wood it is but they used really nice light wood that resonates better than super hard stiff wood 😜

Lee's playing sounds so much better nowadays probably just because he's more comfortable playing in front of a camera as to me always seemed very self conscious and now we're seeing what he can really do in these jams when he's more confident with surley more to come.

The best way to play this is with the volume on full, and just adjust the pre-amp. This amp is all about the tube. Get that tube HOT and it sounds absolutely amazing. I never use the distortion pedal, but that clean tone is so dynamic and there is so much sensitivity that's all I need to run almost any sound I want

I've always loved the sound of these Supro amps. They almost sound like some forgotten Southern Rock coming straight off the vinyl record; like finished recordings. Sounded like that on the affordable tube combo amp roundup ye did a few years back, sounds like long hair, a handlebar moustache and open shirted hairy chest ;) Best living or bedroom amps. But also, best recording amps, with the pre-amp line out, or the low wattage and smaller speakers that don't push buttons of a small room's modes. The line out is nice to have with the cheap IR loader pedals available; or into audio interface then do power amp + cab sim ITB. But, another could be putting it into a pretty clean affordable more powerful power amp (Vox MV50? or SS/Class D). Then into a bigger sounding cab. Then you have a small vibey tube practice and recording amp, that can be converted into something more powerful.

The 8 is Old School and has yo be used crancked with a reverb or delay in front added of a low gain OD ( klon like): and there you go! Its a fantastic amp!

Regarding small amps and gigging. I remember the inimitable Micky Gee using a piggy back Fender Tremolux with 2x10 for a lot of his gigs. Tremolux is rated 15-20 Watts. No problems for him against bass and drums, and Terry Williams is no quiet drummer. And Micky Gee used a lot of clean tones, as Pete probably knows both being Tom Jones related players. Maybe it's that second speaker that makes the difference. Fender Bassbreaker 15 with an extension speaker, giving 2x12, is well loud enough against bass and drums.
DO NOT Overlook This Amp.. The SUPRO Delta King 12
