Great review of the amps. This has been the exact opposite of the Chappers and Captain video. Comprehensive and musically varied, few stones left unturned. Great work!

@robbievalentine82395 жыл бұрын
awesome man! im envious
@VintageRadius4 жыл бұрын
Vice Squad Lol. An endorsed artist is going to Guitar Paradiso on Anderson’s TV to figure out which amp they want? Or in the real world Victory would send said endorsed artist a bunch of gear and work with them to get them to where they want to be tone and gear-wise.
@vicesquadpunk4 жыл бұрын
James M how wrong you are.... Victory don't have the facility to send out 6 or more amp heads and then pay to have the ones not chosen returned. What ACTUALLY happens is the artist either visits the factory OR goes to a local dealer and tries the amps there!!! You may think you know it all, but you haven't a clue mate. I have had my Victory Sheriff 44 for a couple of years now, it was sent to me as an artist sponsorship and I have used it on a couple of albums. I made the right choice by simply making an informed decision. 😊
@VintageRadius4 жыл бұрын
Vice Squad it sounds like that was just your experience. A traditional endorsement is a business arrangement that yields a commercial return for the sponsor, often through image association, and in exchange provides cash or other benefit to the artist. It doesn’t have to take 6 amps and if the sponsor is unwilling to send a couple amps on loan then perhaps we’re using the term endorsement rather loosely.
@vicesquadpunk4 жыл бұрын
James M so, what is your point? What EXACTLY is of concern about my initial comment that is prompting you to take time out of your busy day to engage in dialogue with me? I am genuinely intrigued... let's start by you telling me a little about you... Who are you? What's your band and/or employment situation? Are you an amp or instrument manufacturer? Thanks

+Benjamin Lebofsky can you elaborate?
@benjaminvictor49968 жыл бұрын
I bought two, on both there was an issue where the effects loop has a loud hum no matter how I wired it, powered it or what was in the loop. I realized that when one of the cables passed near the transformer(?) on the left side looking at the back the hum got more pronounced. After looking on line seems to be a common enough issue to raise eyebrows. They need to rework the shielding of the transformer at least on the two out of two models I had in my possession. Pedals sounded fine going in the front of the amp, but then why pay for a defective effects loop?

Great video thanks guys, but is not the gain a bit loose for a Marshal based amp? My 80' Plexi is way more tight even with much less gain. The higher watt one specifically sounds like those Class A vintage amps somehow? It has a fuzziness to it for some reason. Maybe its because of recording but I don't hear much Marshal sound here to be honest.

24:35 wow, I was looking for a US dealer for the 22 after that Fuzz > Univibe > 22 bit by Mick, then Pete took a turn with the Gristle King > 44 and the Reverend...what do I do now, buy both? Fantastic playing guys, I could watch these all day.
@micktaylor83508 жыл бұрын
Hey Brian, you won't be sorry with either! Main reason for buying the 44 would be if you wanted plenty of clean(ish) headroom. 22 has more than you'd imagine, but obviously not as much as the 44. Ever played a 50 or 100 watt Plexi? They definitely have that sizzle. You can dial it back a lot with the presence pot too. We like the sizzle!
@WatchesnguitarsDK8 жыл бұрын
+Mick Taylor I must admit that I have never tried an original plexi. But I take your word for it!
@micktaylor83508 жыл бұрын
They're really interesting amps. Most of the folklore and legend attached to them is when they've been heard in the hands of Hendrix, Clapton, Page, Van Halen and so on. When you've got them wound up to near full (or attenuated and on full blast), a lot of the way the amp compressed and drives means all that extra top and presence is really useful for note definition, but it can be very eye-popping and glassy at lower volumes. As you might know there are two channels that you can mix on JTM45s, 50- and 100-watt Super Leads, so having more of the 'normal' channel can tame it a bit. But the magic comes when they're cranked in both channels, and that's borderline impossible these days. With a lot of amps, it can often be the case that much of that visceral delivery and sound is kind of evened out/made nice so they sound 'good' at low volume, not least in music stores. But in my opinion a lot of those amps then can sound a bit lifeless when you crank them. It's all subjective and personal taste of course. Most of us want the sound and vibe of those old amps, but with fewer of the compromises and practicality issues that goes with them. All amp manufacturers approach that task differently. Cheers!
