Been a Sum 41 fan pretty much all my life. They’re one of the biggest reasons I picked up a guitar in the first place. The tones here sounded so accurate, I loved the addition of the harmonist too

I saw Sum 41 on their farewell tour. I'm a stagehand, so it takes a lot to impress me as I've seen just about every band come through. Sum 41 was one of the best shows I've seen in a long time. Bundle of energy, vocals sounded really good, and the playing was on point.

Love this, can we please have Offspring and/or Billy Talent?
@KeeperOfPoops
@KeeperOfPoops 4 ай бұрын
as far as Noodles from The Offspring's rig is concerned, he used his own signature Ibanez models with either P90's or HSH configuration, his amps are Axe-FX with Egnater cabinets, his effects are mainly just the occasional chorus, delay, tremolo, a wah and an overdriven sound. I don't know much about Dexter's rig but he does use Ibanez super strats

Thanks for giving us pop-punk/emo kids a nod! There’s some nuance goes into nailing that tone that I’ve never been great at, so I appreciate the video. More of these, please!

I was saying this to my brother the other day. Blink-182 are my favourite band, but Dave Baksh is the GOAT of the genre when it comes to guitar skill. Some of the solos on their newest album are legitimately incredible, particularly on the "Hell" side.
@hellosight95
@hellosight95 14 күн бұрын
@@Travis-guy-247 That's because they all came from the punk/metal world as opposed to pop punk. Same with hefe from nofx being an amazing guitarist/soloist/shredder (and obviously nofx were the biggest influence on sum 41!)
@Travis-guy-247
@Travis-guy-247 14 күн бұрын
@@hellosight95 Yeah absolutely. If you look at their entire discography, it’s actually about 60/40 to the heavier metal sounding stuff rather than pop punk. I definitely think that direction was heavy influenced by Dave as well, he’s a massive fan of Iron Maiden & Metallica. I saw them live in the UK last week and they sounded amazing! Dave is an incredible soloist and Deryck’s voice is sounding stronger than ever. It makes it all the more upsetting that they’re spilling up 💔

These bands all loved numbers in their names. I think this and the MCR episode are the only ones directed at us 00's skater kids. Mild edit: I love both these guys, and think they're great players. But I do legit miss Cici giving a bass player's perspective to the low end of the group. I'd love to see her, or even Bass Lee, whenever a more bass-heavy band comes up.

I was just rewatching the older one with Matt and Rabea yesterday so this is surprisingly good timing and as a Canadian (specifically from Ontario) this definitely makes me happy to see because Sum is one of my favourite Canadian bands and they only live about an hour and a half away from me lol. Also definitely happy seeing the £1500 return because that gives you a lot more variety for gear to use with these, I’d love to see a video on sounding like System of a Down with Ben and John taking on Daron Malakian and Shavo Odadjian or the Nameless Ghouls from Ghost (a band I’ve been suggesting since Matt and Rabea were still hosting)

Met dave baksh last year to buy a piece of rack gear he had put up on reverb. Ended up being less than an hour away so I just drove to pick it up. Seemed like a really nice dude. Easy to negotiate with and didnt seem entitled or arrogant. And he gave me a really good price.

Another amazing video. I would love it if you could do a video on sounds like Trivium both by and without busting the bank. (Specifically I want to hear the sound from their best album In Waves for the without busting the bank, and the sound of their second best album The Sin And The Sentence for the by busting the bank for the seven string guitars. Also I want to see a Linkin Park and White Pony era Deftones video in the future. Keep up the great work guys

The Reverend doesn't have two tone controls. It has a tone and a "bass contour". The Bass contour is their alternative to a coil split, which is cool because it works on humbuckers and p90s to roll off bass. Not really needed for a Sum41 sound, tho

Disappointed. Wanted to see DIGITAL JOHN use a Valeton GP200. :) Actually, maybe that could be a nice sub-series here: using modelers at various pricepoints to achieve Sounds Like results....Just as an alternative, as we all know modeling is undeniably [and justifiably] more and more popular with every passing day. Modelers direct or through power amps/FRFR. Why NOT modelers in Sounds Like? :P
