That is a FANTASTIC sounding preamp pedal! And at just a bit over $200 USD, that is an absolute bargain! Excellent video, Lee & Nathan!

The tilt knob is a plus for me - instant dark vintage tone in a second!

I've always loved Laney guitar amps but I've never been that impressed with their bass stuff, so I dithered for a while on picking one of these up. The Laney demo wasn't great and all the other demos on here seemed to be with battery powered hi-tech basses with lots of slapping, so this demo was very welcome. And I bought one. Holy hell Laney knocked it out of the park with this pre. They managed to pack a ton of features into a very affordable unit, but also created a very easy to use, 'set it and forget it' pedal. It's quite vintage sounding so fans of Darkglass stuff might not get on with it but if you're a classic rock dude like myself you will be right at home. It's incredibly easy to dial in some nice thick tones and the tilt control works great with the drive channel. Honestly, just buy one.

These pedals are fantastic, and extremely well priced. My board uses one although I normally have a big amp with me (or borrow depending on the gig situation in my city usually) however the few times people have been unreliable this bad-boy of a pedal has always been a saving grace. For £150 there is probably not a better pedal at all. You'd be spending easily £250-300 quid for stuff about the same level of quality or features! The 'tilt' function is honestly amazing, you can just flip your tone on its head immediately and dial in what you think is lacking very easily!!! It's got the perfect vintage tone for the band I play in as I just rock a p-bass.

I love mine! It's got all the "bells and whistles." I play both bass and guitar and I use this as the "hub" of my pedal board. I plug my 8-micro-pedal board into the front. Then I plug my Cornerstone Gladio SC, Boss Bd-2w Blues Driver, Harmonious Monk tremolo, Boss Ce-2w chorus and Boss Dm-2w analog delay into the effects loop. I can use the effects with both my guitar and bass. When I turn on the Gladio, it turns the Digbeth into an awesome guitar preamp. It's apartment friendly with it's headphones in!

I'm here to hear a review - even though I know it's bent towards sales - but we don't want to hear you shut-up. We need the facts, as you pretty well covered I think. All I needed to hear. I have a space issue - but want a pro sound from a pro company like Laney. Nice demo of the possibilities. TILT EQ is a feature often used in mastering by engineers. So, you get your basic sound that you want and just use the tilt eq to get a quick final sound. Thanks.

How does the active and passive seperate inputs help when this is part of a board. A switch would have been better?

I got mine today. I was quite disappointed. Sounds is great but it makes a buzzy noise as soon as you turn the volume up higher than 4. Especially in combination with the drive mode it really makes it unusable to me. Too bad :( I like it optically as well as sound-wise.

It’s a shame that manufacturers invest infinitely more time and resources into guitar R&D, as bass is clearly the superior instrument. More things like this!!!

PLEASE HELP: i've been breaking my head off on which pedals should i put on the fx loop of this preamp. I know that chorus, delays, and reverb (on that order) sound sweet. But i want to put a wah, octaver, and compressor. SHOULD I PUT IT ON THE FX LOOP BEFORE MY MODULATION, OR BEFORE THIS PREAMP? its hard because this has overdrive on it. PLEASE HELP
@thewetterbass2 жыл бұрын
Wah, octaver or fuzz preferably in front of the preamp. Compressor too, although you can put it in the effects loop too. 😉

@soulstart894 ай бұрын
@@joshdennis1 I went with the nux. In all honesty as decent as the nux MLD is I wish I went with the laney. I thought o would use the ir more with headphones but I gravitate more to an actual cab. I have a b15 ir which is great but I now use the tone hammer amp with hi and low pass filters. Also I never get the tube like drive I like.

Love the energy and presentation, but these demos really don't show the product. It would be better to try to dial in some tones. Like here is a pick/SVT tone, here is a Motown finger style, and a funky slap tone. Spinning dials and noodling mindlessly really doesn't show what the pedal can do. The best demos are from Tech21 where they try to sound like specific artists and songs so you can see what the pedal can do.
@mrbungle75862 жыл бұрын
Yeah have to agree. To a degree it's a bit like look at me and what I can do, not enough about the product and what it can do. And yes, how many videos do we see spinning dials while noodling, your spot on. Something to work on and improve hopefully as that's all that's needed to do a good demo. Cheers

yes, when you crank the "tube" gain all the way up it gets a bit farty but if you keep it around noon or lower it's warm and awesome and even that super overdriven sound has its charm and can be useful especially when blended with the transistor channel

I mean still less than studio rack preamp which is in a lot of ways what I think of pedals. Take your studio rack sound in a smaller form less expensive probably with some compromises to use live or in a band context. For example the Avalon 737, tons of knobs, features and extremely expensive. A finished bass track in studio a lot of times already went through eq compression maybe cab emulation slight grit added even. So I guess that the point is to have a pedal that get you in the ball park of that.

I got one of these and use it for guitar and bass and as a headphone amp for practice for both. With the FX loop as well it's just so much for the money! Sounds great as well imo
