I have my various Fender strats and tellys, I'm here mostly to hear Pete play. Lee is just getting better as time goes on. Don't think they mentioned the fretboard material, but the first strat definitely has a pau ferro board. I'm not into tone wood, but I do have preferences in esthetics. I have a couple Classic Vibes with rosewood boards. Why Fender does this really mystifies me.

The word oxymoron popped into my head but that isn't it I don't think. Oxymoron is where the name typically means one thing but is used for the opposite, so Raising a building to the ground is an oxymoron. I think a better suited word would be 'synonymous' but even then I don't think that fits perfectly because that's just where you say one word and could instantly think of the other. Things like Metal and Metallica some people could consider synonymous, potentially. Sorry, thinking of the word was bugging me and then looked here to find the answer. Hope you all have a good day :)

You know, all the guitars from Fender honestly never look that different. Ok, it’s a Strat-it sounds like a Strat. It’s a Tele-it sounds like a Tele. Once you have one or a couple of them, at a good quality level, or if you're great at doing setups, the guitars last for decades. How many do you really need? At some point, when do Fender and other guitar companies produce so much product that there's no need to buy any more? The guitar industry has a real issue: they make products that, for the most part, will last a lifetime. But guitar companies seem bent on a model where we're supposed to buy a new guitar every week. Let me help you out-if you have 14 Strats like I do, buying another Strat isn’t doing anything for your playing. I sound like me playing a Strat on all 14 of my Strat guitars.

Actually I think the phrase Pete might be looking for is "gilding the lily," which comes from _King John_ and refers to going to extraordinary effort to make something that is already great only incrementally better. (The original context was a re-coronation ceremony for King John, which Salisbury went to great lengths to describe as "wasteful and ridiculous excess.")
