Alvarez and Sire guitars are the best price to performance guitars for all of us not belonging to the EU/US… I have an old Alvarez AD60 I’ve been playing for 7-8 years and I couldn’t be more happier with it.. My Sire H5 is an “Indonesian E355” but it plays and sounds just as good as any Gibson I’ve played over the years.. Let’s just be grateful that these brands exist for us… 🍺

I'm in the US. I had a Chinese made AD60 lefty that was a great guitar for $350. Only sold it when I got an American made Taylor. Would recommend AD60 highly!

I have an AJ80 12 string with LR Baggs pick up system. It's the best 12 string I've ever played. Sounds fantastic acoustically or plugged in and plays like butter. Really impressed with Alvarez.

Huge Alvarez fan here- I imagine you all used the plugged in sounds because it was the only way to get clean audio, but it did not do these guitars any favors. If at all possible, let’s get a mic on them and hear the guitars rather than those transducers.
@anthonylane95479 ай бұрын
Aggree with you on that. Im sorry, but all i hear is quack out of the LR BAGGS HIFI. They would of been better Off with a K&K IMO.

I feel ya, generally, yet thru my good car stereo...these sound pretty balanced, nice low end/ high end response. Still not perfect, but pretty good to this sound guys ears!
@scottfishkind53359 ай бұрын
The problem is pickups sound better through speakers, moving air, not direct into a recording device . So it’s really hard to hear their effectiveness since they aren’t being used in the context they were designed for.

Great sounds from great guitars.

they sound horrible no idea why would you plug an acoustic in using piezo as it removes the actual guitar from sound equation whatsoever

The action on Flamenco guitars is generally low so that the player can make the strings buzz deliberately.

I watched a youtube video about the Alvarez Laureate (bloody Andertons) and, out of curiosity, decided to check one out for myself. Big mistake-because the moment I played it, I had to buy it! Now, I’m the proud owner of a Gibson Hummingbird PRO, and naturally, I was thinking that when I got home, my trusty Gibson would still hold its own against the brand new Alvarez. But to my dismay, the Alvarez blew me away-it sounded so much clearer, more precise, and louder. The real kicker? Even my wife, who had been giving me grief about buying yet another guitar, could hear the difference! So, long story short-I'm selling my Gibson.

I am an Alvarez fan, but they always talk about manufacture in the Far East. It's China and that's fine, just say it. The other thing is discounting. For instance in the UK over a month the MDR70eSB was available at £549, £599, £699 through to £799. Andertons regularly knock down Alvarez prices. No one is is going to trust the initial price of the Laureate series guitars or the 2024 Masterworks which have come in at much higher prices than their almost identical predecessors.

Alvarez is made in China, and their Yairi line is Japan
@viniciuseduardobomfim4 ай бұрын
Alvarez is Made in China, but it's not a sweatshop with people being overworked day and night. Just like Eastman, they employ a team of talented builders led by Master Luthiers. Yairi is built in Japan, the current line is employing wood that was naturally aged for decades.

The string spacing on the 8 string baritone is bizarre. Why did they do that?

The strings close to each other are tuned to octaves of the same note like a 12 string guitar.
