What did you think of the Smart Lock U200 from Aqara? I'm in love with the Home Keys functionality of it. Want to pick one up? Check out the link to get one directly from Aqara: www.aqara.com/eu/product/smart-lock-u200/

I think it has got some smart little features - like how it allows to easily connect to your phone. Also got a neat minimalistic look to it! Very ideal for your house :)

Thank you for the fantastic review! Our door lock has a latch. Can the Aqara U200 automatically operate it? Specifically, if I use my Apple Watch (Home Key), will both the deadbolt and the latch unlock together?

What happens if the batteries die while you’re outside? Can you still turn the key from the outside while the inside one is locked by the motor, or does this smart lock require both keys to turn independently?
@andi5 ай бұрын
Hey that’s a great question, yes you can always turn the key from the outside. Meaning if the U200’s battery is empty it will still function from both the inside with the manual knob or outside with the key. What’s important is exactly the requirement for the retro fit is that your lock cylinder has the emergency function. Meaning that it can be unlocked from both sides with a key inserted. I’d recommend to test this first, as it’s not required that both keys turn independently but rather that the door is able to open/unlock. This is usually quite common for most EU locks but if the lock doesn’t have this feature it should be easy to swap the cylinder :)

i have apple tv and try to add with homekit but i cant ! do i need hub m3 ?
@andi3 ай бұрын
Hey no you don’t need the hub however it could be that you need to put the lock into pairing mode by pressing the button first and then scanning the matter qr code :) otherwise you can also try a firmware update
@evilclaystudios4 ай бұрын
Does it require the Aqara HUB? or does it work out of the box with apple homekit without the need for the hub which is another 100€ i think?
@andi3 ай бұрын
No it doesn’t require the Aqara hub :)

@@andi Does it need any matter controller hub? did you managed to add the device to homekit without any hub?
@andiАй бұрын
You’ll need if I’m not wrong to setup matter an Apple TV as a matter hub for the HomeKey support

Is it possible to use the lock without keypad? I understand that some features wouldnt work, but is it possible to unlock the door from Home app?
@andi4 ай бұрын
Yes it’s totally possible to unlock and lock it through the home app

Seems like you had a quite good installation journey. Have had mine for months now and I still havent gotten it to work with homekit. Aqara support is kinda unresponsive/not able to help either...
@andi4 ай бұрын
Hey perhaps I can help you with it. Have you already tried doing a firmware update to the lock? And did you press the set button to put it in pairing mode before scanning the matter qr code in the home app?
@fredrik_g4 ай бұрын
@@andi Thank you for offering! I have done and tried most of the usual stuff and a few quirky ones Aqara suggested, yet to no avail thus far. I am on v66 firmware that they said would fix a bunch of issues. However, mine is still not functioning as of yet.

One thing that comes to my mind is that matter requires a home hub so an Apple TV or HomePod. Have you updated your HomeKit to the new architecture yet?
@Tty854 ай бұрын
@fredrik_g What error did you get? Do you have thread border router, do you use the newest version of ios and Home app? Give all the possible details, I'm trying to help you with.
@juha-tapioteno29844 ай бұрын
My installation wasn't also that straightforward. I have an Amazon Echo Thread Border router. After a lot of hassle I managed to get it to work with Apple HomeKit. What I needed to do was first upgrade the firmware and enable all the features I wanted in the Aqara Home App and also take the keypad into use and setup an admin password/finger print. After this you need to reset the lock. Then you need to go to Amazon Alexa App and start the Matter pairing process there and read the Matter code (Not the AQARA code). After you have successfully added the lock to Amazon Alexa, you need to share the device and share it to apple home kit. After this you jump to Apple HomeKit and then add a new device using the code that Amazon Alexa App created for you for sharing the device. After this the setup process moves forward and the lock / Apple Homekey is added to wallet and everyone who is added to the home. What I cannot do is use the Aqara Home App anymore. One other thing which was wrong, was that the lock/unlock modes in Apple were reversed. This was fixed by manually turning the knob to the position that was shown in the Apple Home app and pressing the "Set" button for 3 seconds manually in the lock. This updated the modes to be consistent in the lock and in Apple Home. Unfortunately I cannot use the Aqara Home App anymore via Bluetooth, if anyone knows how to fix this or if this is even possible, please let me know.

Do you need Apple TV or HomePod to use the home key
@andi3 ай бұрын
Yes you need either of those to act as a home hub
@impactakanathan5025Ай бұрын
Am I write in believing that the Amazon echo can be used as an alternative to the Apple TV or HomePod using it as a thread router?

Hey there! You might need to upgrade to the new home architecture. You can do it following these steps: support.apple.com/en-gb/102287 Please note that iPad won’t be supported anymore, here’s how you can set up the Apple TV as a hub: support.apple.com/en-us/102557 Hope this helps!

Isn’t leaving the key in the lock a security risk? As far as I know it makes picking the lock extremely easy
@RaudiRaul5 ай бұрын
Could you link any reports of this please. To my knowledge, it’s actually harder to pick with the key in the lock. Just as curious as you. Thank you.

I have a U200 and a Hub M3 installed at home, and I can say that I have never been able to pair them! I paired them once with the Apple Home Kit, because I have an Apple TV 4K, but when I tried again I could not do it again. The Matter / Thread technology in this equipment needs "improvements". IPv6 checked, all possible and imaginary settings and this crap does not synchronize, everything was reported to the mediocre Aqara support line and they do not solve anything. 3 Weeks and more than 100 attempts and nothing. If the lock is used without remote resource, it just does its job decently. Today I put everything in a box and sent it back to Amazon, I'm going for the Nuki 4 Pro. My patience has limits.
