Fill the voids in the bonnet and boot with Expanding foam filler like Lotus did in the 70's. you will not believe how stiff it makes the panels. It will take out all the flex and stress cracking of the panel in use from vibration. Great project Hugh

The fit of the bonnet came out almost perfect. Will make for easy work when you get to the bodywork stage. THe reg no was Y80 MOD - I am in Canada ... and don;t be offended but I lean more towards coffee 🙂

In US if it’s solid it’s called ROD. If hollow it’s called BAR stock. 😊

I'm going to put my 2 cents in, I don't know how it's called 10 different things anywhere. You have square tubing and round tubing which is hollow. I always called solid pieces bar stock, round, square, and hex? I'm going out on a limb and saying I'm correct on this one!

Do you really need the steel in between the inner & outer of the panels? Surely when the inner & outer are bonded together there will be sufficient strength. You can always fill any voids with expanding foam, this will add to the strength without adding unnecessary weight.

Maybe not but I’d rather do it the best we can rather than cut corners save time and potentially have to do it again

Hi Lads, I think your bonnet should have had two locking points releases one on each each side top side of the lid, so there would not be any shaking or vibrating issues once you finish the car and start to drive it on the road your centre lock point I believe is too far back towards the centre of the bonnet ? Hope I am wrong but I think you find this a problem later.
