I have not watched the Expanded Universe books, like Death Star, Han Solo trilogy, Landon trilogy, Thrown Trilogy, or the X-Wngs novels Rouge Squadron. The Rouge Squadron novels and the video games by LucasArts are much better than Disney Star Wars. They all have continuity from all six movies. Till Disney bought LucasFilm. You should watch the fan film about Warhammer 40,000 called Astartes Project by Syama Pedersen - Original Version - Full Edit - All Parts by TheChach. Then watch the trailer called Warhammer 40,000 the New Edition Cinematic Tralor by Game Workshop. Then by game workshop watch Cinematic Trailer 2020 (9th edition) and then Warhammer The Horus Heresy Cinematic Trailer. Warhammer is the largest tabletop game, they have novels and video games. They are going to have a movie soon. After watching those videos watch the videos Every single Warhammer 40K Faction Explain parts 1 and 2.

I love the irony of Cassian's arrest and sentencing. He just was part of this major heist that brought down these extreme measures galaxy wide, but he gets arrested and sentenced to six years in prison for something he didn't even do. That's imperial efficiency and competence for you. Dedra is an exception, not the rule. Watching Dedra is a little like watching Tywin Lannister. She's a horrible person. But she's smart. She's competent. She's watchable. And brilliant antagonists are always more fun than idiots, because you have to work harder to beat them. The stakes are higher. You want them to do well, because a close game is more fun than a shutout. I love the interplay between Luthen and Mon. Mon is committed. She is absolutely committed to the cause, but she has idealistic, humanist tendencies (in the beneficent sense, not the racist one). And those tendencies slow her WAY down. She does care about the suffering of the people. She would much rather do things peacefully; she comes from a diplomatic background. The atrocities and injustice of the Empire got her into rebellion, but she flinches every time to be atrocious and unjust. That makes her trustworthy. But she will also creep and cringe and compromise. She needs the bloodhounds like Luthen on her side, because they are the ones who actually make things happen, even if they are contemptible people and the last ones you would want actually in charge when the dust clears. But on the other side, you have Luthen, who really is contemptible. He planned Aldhani as a provocation, knowing people would get hurt and killed and unjustly arrested. He knows the Empire is going to make an outrageous, heavyhanded response. In a way, he made it happen. That's horrible. And he knows it was. And that's interesting too.

Arrested for being brown basically. I agree, it's such an awesome subversion of expectations, showing that even if you "get away with it" in this world you still can't get away from the empire.
@kirby72947 ай бұрын
A part of Cassian's arrest that deserves more attention is what it shows Cassian. Not just the evil, oppressive state of the Empire. That they'll arrest anyone for any reason because they can, but also to show that there is no escape. Since Ferrix, Cassian has been running. That's his plan: to run as far as possible and outrun the Empire, but the galaxy is only so big. Think about it. He makes it to Niamos, this tropical planet of relaxation and leisure. He believes he can be safe from the Empire here, but no. He gets arrested. There is no escaping them. There is nowhere to flee where they won't find you. There is only one way out.

The ISB officer who presides over the meeting at the beginning is someone we have seen before, actually -- he's Wullf Yularen, who was a colonel during the Clone Wars, serving as a ship commander under Anakin, and he's seen in multiple episodes of that show, and then chronologically we'll see him in a few episodes of Star Wars Rebels and later at the council scene on the Death Star in Episode IV -- I believe he was killed in the Death Star explosion. Of course, in Episode IV he was played by a different actor and had no lines.

The quality of the writing in this show is phenomenal! Especially in this episode; I think it's my favourite episode, though all of them are good. That they can make a senator's attempt to recruit an accountant at a boring party be such an exciting and interesting scene! Brilliant dialogue! The morning scene with Marva and Cassian is one of my favourites. It says so much, and there is important meaning also in what is unspoken. Brilliant dialogue! The writers have a way to condense so much meaning, sometimes into very few words, like: "Well played. Watch your back." That you actually root for Meera, even though she represents the enemy is also very good writing. It makes you understand that the people who work for the empire have their own motivations, both personal, and ideological. I also like that major Partagaz is such a competent leader of the ISB. The empire has never been as sinister and scary as it is in Andor. In most of Star Wars the empire feels rather incompetent. In Andor the empire is both more competent and more believable. It makes the tension much higher. Finally we have Star Wars for adults, and I love it.

Great reaction. I have now seen the series many times, and I keep going back to this one as a huge favourite. I cried even harder watching the Maarva / Cassian scene for a subsequent time. Fiona Shaw is magnificent but Diego Luna is often underrated- he’s just so superb. I love that he is playing a much younger man here, and you can tell. You picked up on how hurt he is at Bix’s rejection- notice how he responds with deliberate meanness. Then there’s his childlike wide eyed innocence, the idea that he can solve all his problems with the money, and that his mum is going to be so proud of him at last. He’s so disappointed when it all goes so differently from how he was expecting. Did you notice that when Maarva is praising the “heroes” of Aldhani he briefly smiles with pride but immediately hides it? It’s so ironic that part of him is dying to tell her, to make her proud of him, but the bigger part doesn’t want to give her a reason to stay. It’s so frustrating, and really heartbreaking, and so well acted. And it’s just one of several excellent duologues in this superb episode. Not just a great Star Wars show - one of the best television dramas of recent years, hands down.

I don’t buy into that “Cinta killed everyone she was guarding” theory. For starters, if she did that, the 2nd headline in all the news stories and TV coverage, after “Rebels attack base and steal 80 million credits!”, would be “Wanton slaughter of innocent women, children, and unarmed catering staff!”; this is something the Rebels would not want, and would only detract from their cause. In Episode 6, after the Commandant told Vel “You’ll kill us anyway”, she said “Because that’s what you would do…”. No Cinta did not kill the people that were bound and helpless; such an act would not help the Rebels cause, and her dedication to the Rebellion is absolute.
@DidWeWin18 ай бұрын
SOILERS.. I guess? I both agree and disagree. I think the show leaves it up to interpretation. I like to think she did not, especially since her family had been killed, but that could be seen as a counter argument just as easily. You are right, that this violence wouldn't "help" the rebel's cause, but that isn't how Luthen has operated thus far. Although, public image is important, and the Empire cracking down in response to a family being slaughtered, would be less egregious to the public eye than the same response to a robbery. But then again, the family did see the faces of every survivor of the heist, which makes leaving them alive a liability. Sure is a mystery.

The three of them show how many classes within society react to the start of the revolution. The working class elderly knowing the times before the empire/republic, the disillusioned middle-class revolutionary shop owner and the hesitant upper class senator. There’s no doubt Syril’s mother screwed up her son: He is miserable 24/7, regardless of success or failure in his professional life. Tony Gilroy is certainly doing a study in how fascism works, down to how fascists are created. That’s why we get to follow Syril after his initial fiasco, and really get to know him and his background. I think you will revise your take on the mother as the series progresses… The key line in the dialog between Luthen and Mon Mothma is when he says ”it either grows or it dies”: The resistance has to keep growing in numbers or it will fizzle out. That’s why he staged the provocation on Aldhani. He has set the stage, the organisation is in place, and now it needs to grow organically - or it will fail.

@@Nyx_2142 I never said that. I even admitted that the mother might be one contributor. But I'm saying that if we stop our analysis at "The mother screwed up her son", we're going to be ill-equipped to understand how societies turn fascist. And if the mother did in fact raise Syril with an attraction towards authoritarianism (which is different from fascism, but he's not a full-blown fascist yet, details...), we should be interested in the source of her parenting style, right? But no matter what a bad parent does to their child, the child's society and communities will guide them towards their likeness. In my experience, feelings of rejection (ie. parental, or a more a more general lack of sense of belonging, or something else) leads people to seek acceptance wherever they can, including communities that are otherwise harmful or destructive. The air that Syril breathes is thick with authoritarianism, so it would be really difficult for him to find healthier environments. But we also mustn't view him as a victim, because his actions also have victims.

My take on Luthen is a very harsh one. He didn’t want to recruit Cassian for the Rebellion via that big persuasive push in the early episodes. He wanted to recruit him for the Aldhani mission. And that’s it, that was all he was focused on. It’s the only interpretation that makes sense to me, considering what happens next. Can’t wait for the next reaction!

You should read the Expanded Universe which are books, comics, short stories, and video games by LucasArts. The trilogy that started the expanded universe is called the Thrawn Trilogy, there is also the Death Star. The video game for Windows 95 and PlayStation 1 called Dark Force tells how the Death Star plans were stolen. Also, a radio show told how the Death Star plans were stolen. In 2006 on PSP, and Nintendo DS there was Leathel Alliance that tells how the Death Star plans were stolen. They are all connected to all six movies by George Lucas.
