13:32 actually, that is the nightshift manager counterpart of Kino Loy, so those two must know each other fairly well. Which is why it makes perfect sense that he immediately realizes the floor is actually deactivated. And, ofc, him being the manager of his shift also means it makes sense he takes charge and is the first one to step out. Its another one of those details that are a showcase of brilliant writing - the writers really thought about everything.

"And what do you sacrifice?" "Calm. Kindness, kinship. Love. I've given up all chance at inner peace. I've made my mind a sunless place. I share my dreams with ghosts. I wake up every day to an equation I wrote 15 years ago from which there's only one conclusion; I'm damned for what I do. My anger, my ego, my unwillingness to yield, my...my eagerness to fight, they've set me on a path from which there is no escape. I yearned to be a savior against injustice without contemplating the cost and by the time I looked down, there was no longer any ground beneath my feet. What is my...what is my sacrifice? I'm condemned to use the tools of my enemy, to defeat them. I burn my decency for someone else's future. I burn my life to make a sunrise that I know I'll never see. And the ego that started this fight will never have a mirror or an audience or the light of gratitude. So what do I sacrifice? Everything!"

Luthen's speech is one of my favorite things from this show and in my mind kinda refers to his past a little that he could be a former Jedi. I hope they never reveal if he was or not.

For me, this episode made both Kino and Luthen one of the best Star Wars characters of all time and that speaks volumes about the writing and acting. This show is some of the best television I've seen in a very long time.

Andy Serkis and Stellan Skarsgard were amazing in this episode. Mon Monthma stuff reminds me House od the Dragon/Game of Thrones stuff. Overall episode and whole show are great. And also it's also important for those Rebel characters to remember that you need to keep that decency and morality because if you don't you can turn it to very thing you want to destroy.

The Empire had many prisoners and subjugated planets and races to test their new Death of Children interrogation technique on. What is so great about this show and its writing. They want you to ask these questions, and the more you think about it, the more horrific the answers are when you realize how well it is written. The inmates of the prisons who served their terms were shipped off to be used and die in developing Imperial torture techniques, etc. Many point out that moving any prisoner from one level to another or to another prison is a plot hole; because, they would just tell everyone what happened. Actually, if you pay attention to the writing, they tell you exactly what is happening. They move those prisoners from a Gen Pop program to other Imperial Programs where they are alone and will eventually die in service of the Empire. It's subtle, but it is there.

Mon Mothma will likely lose her entire family and I fear it will be one of the most crushing plot lines of the series. I wouldn’t be surprised if her daughter is already a rebel unknown to her mother though and is lost to the ISB or killed.

I think that episode 7 is actually part of this last arc. It would make it 7, 11 and 12. In episode 7 he was on Ferrix trying to get his mother and Bix to come with him, and I think these next two episodes will be him on Ferrix trying to rescue his mother and Bix. Plus all of these three episodes have the same director.

Considering how effortlessly Cassian and Kino killed the other guards, I'm wondering why they left the guards in the control room alive, especially since they would be able to put out a distress call, etc and get the Empire down there in no time flat to round up or kill the escapees. Maybe they were showing their new found humanity? Maybe this act will come back to haunt them...
@JustWasted3HoursHere2 жыл бұрын
It could be two things. Because the doctor said "Not now" about whether anyone was ever being released, it seems like the first one could have been an accident of putting a man just released from one level on another level (of the same prison) and that after that happened they were no longer letting prisoners leave after their sentences. Or, that could be interpreted as meaning that usually prisoners are just sent to another prison after their sentence was up and that the mistake was that they put him back in the same prison. I think it's the latter based on Kino's monologue.
@Daniel_Huffman Жыл бұрын
From what we can tell, prisoners used to be released, but that stopped after the new laws in the aftermath of Aldhani were implemented, and the prisoners are now sent to another prison that is presumably only occupied by "released" prisoners. The mistake was that they sent him to the same prison, and that the remaining prisoners are definitely not being released so as to cover it up.
@JustWasted3HoursHere Жыл бұрын
@@Daniel_Huffman Either way, I can't wait for season two! I hope we get to see Andy Serkis again. The director of that episode said that he "certainly didn't die" so who knows?

Finally, we have palpatine on the rebel side. a very twisted, dark version. From a certain point of view - as Luthen said - to outdo and crush palpatine, one must approach it viciously and covertly As if Palpatine had slowly but thoroughly seized control of the Republic in a democratic way and finally collapsed it. Did the writer of this show want to create a character like Palpatine's mirror figure? very interesting.
