The prison break was a huge metaphor for the overall story. For all it's seemingly unassailable control and the hopelessness of the prisoners if they scratch not too far below the surface they realise they can win. They can escape, they can get away. Just like you can destroy a Death Star or take on a Star Destroyer. Hope is born.

Not only are Andy Serkis and Stellan Skarsgard both phenomenal actors, but they have very distinct voices that truly help carry the weight of their dialogue, to the point that you can really feel their emotions coming out just by listening to their words alone. Also, Diego Luna embodies the role of a desperate rebel pretty perfectly. One that's doing whatever he can to keep himself alive, but not straying too far into Imperial territory to where he becomes the people he hates altogether. The scene in which he refused to shoot the unarmed guards in cold blood said so much about his character, at least during this stage in the rebellion, where he's still lightly treading over his morally grey areas. I really wish the Kenobi show could've brought this much depth and maturity to it, rather than being just another Disney product. Andor, on the other hand, really is a breath of fresh air.
@BlueHooloovoo2 жыл бұрын
To be fair Obi-Wan Kenobi was to satisfy the other part of the Star Wars fandom that finds Andor to be boring. The part of the fandom that wants action above drama.
@jameskyle47182 жыл бұрын
@@BlueHooloovoo That is true, but even the fight choreography could've at least made up for a short, bland story. Only fights that were good involved Kenobi and Vader Other than that, I don't know how Disney even managed to screw up a series focused on arguably the top 3 fan favorite SW characters.

What a great episode. I absolutely LOVE espionage genre shows and movies. The Moscow Rules used by Luthen’s people takes me back to those movies. The Coventry aspect, with Luthen as Churchill, sacrificing his own to keep his man in ISB in tact. Luthen’s and Kino’s speech was EPIC!! The heroes at the beginning of the Rebellion is becoming as iconic as the ones who were glorified at the end. Kino’s arc was so well written .. I’m with you guys, Kino Lives!!!

I never planned to watch this show and in fact had decided to skip because of the disappointment of Obi-wan, but Andor is beyond incredible. It gives us a perfect glimpse of the stakes involved in taking down the Emperor; it gives us a scope of the importance of the lives of those who aren't the chosen one and gives us greater depth to the evil of the Emperor's reign. I didn't think I would care for Andor because I knew how Cassian would die and didnt care how he lived, but the atmosphere, the stakes, the realism of this series is more than I could have ever grasped was possible in SW. Wow wow wow wow wow, those monologues kind of sent chills. That Luthen dagger had me wanting to enlist. Besides the fact that he absolutely doesn't mind throwing bodies to the wind in principle, he did convey conviction to the cause. "Doesn't mind" may be a little strong...actually he sees the cost and is willing to pay it for...the greater good? He and others like him have the mind set that this fight is too important and have to win by any means necessary, including tactics that The Empire itself would use if given the chance. So, fighting fire with fire is on the table and breaking a few eggs to make cake is the recipe they are ok with. Or...a handler will say anything to keep his asset on board....the asset wouldn't know, we do...so far anyway, no reason not to believe what he has said. Only reason I say that is because this is the spy game...would be crazy as shit if Luthen were some high level Empire plant double agent or working for who knows who in the end playing the long game.

Wow! I mean wow! This was definitely my favorite one so far, I really loved it. This episode was just so amazing. I feel like everything in this episode was just so perfect, the build up, the writing, the emotion and the acting. Not to mention how tense this was, especially when they first started to riot, I was sitting on the edge of my seat, super worried but engaged. The entire breakout scene was also really awesome, just seeing all the prisoners getting each other out and then running through the halls to the exit while the guards became scared and hid was cool. And I’ve got to talk about Andy Serkis’ performance as Kino in this episode. Just seeing his breakdown and realization at the beginning of the episode was so amazing but his speech near the end of the episode just took this performance over the top. Andy Serkis did an incredible job at portraying this character and I can’t imagine anyone else being able to pull off this character’s arc and emotion like he did. And I really, really hope that in the next episode we find out that one of the other prisoners helped him get to land. And Stellan Skarsgård’s preference as Luthen in this episode was also amazing, just hearing different emotions coming through while giving that great monologue was amazing and it was really able to sell me on everything Luthen has gone through and is trying to achieve. This show has been so incredible so far I cannot wait to see the final two episodes and see how all the story lines come together and how they will conclude.

Your point at 37:00 ish is even reflected in the events of the prison break. The first few to act, primarily the new guy and the guy who helped Cassian plan the breakout, died. Those who led the charge were most susceptible to blaster fire. It is tragic yet inspiring to reflect on.

Holy shit what an episode. It felt tense throughout the entire episode, I was sitting on the edge of my seat. The music was so epic, the shots were amazing, the monologues were awesome. Andy Serkis acted his ass off for this episode and it was so satisfying to watch. I hope Kino survived and shows up sometime, you can never have too much Andy Serkis

Both Andy Serkis and Diego Luna in this episode kinda reminded me of Shawshank Redemption in a way. Trying to hold on to the one thing that will get them out and Cassian had it since he first got in that prison... HOPE. Aww My Heart!!! 🏆🏆🏆

Dude the pure hype for the rebellion was strong in this episode. I mean hell the lead-up has been magnificent. The speech by Andy Serkis was breathtaking with the music building behind it & then Skarsgaard explains sacrifice...god damn man I really hope Kino made it

What I love about this show is that you truly FEEL the stakes. They're not just telling you the Empire is bad and needs to be taken down, they show it through meaningful side characters and plot points that this is a regime that will become even more powerful and implement a harsher iron fist if something isn't done. And while that "something" is the heroic Rebellion...that's not all sunshine and rainbows either. Even the Rebellion does some questionable things, sacrificing their own and other peoples' livelihoods for a possible pipe dream cause. Because even if they may not be there in the end to witness the victory, they know they're doing their parts to instill hope and purpose to the masses...creating a better future for the next generation. What a poignant way to describe today's social climate within the phenomenal world of Star Wars!

I love this show so so much. The kind of Star Wars content I've dreamed of for so long. Beside ST4 this is easily the best show of the year

EPIC! There are many great episodes but this one. Wow. Incredible. The acting and writing are superb. I can’t get enough of this show!

I love that this plot revolved around water coming from one of those non-descript pipes in the wall. They're always either electrical conduits, or steam for some reason. Just some cool-looking structures we don't know much about. But never plumbing, which every ship would of course need. Great way to bring realism to the imposing Imperial base trope.

I can't believe I'm actually watching and loving a 2022 Disney Star Wars product that isn't preachy or scoldy. I can't belive I, as a viewer am being simply... entertained.
