this is BS, I just watched the series and she clearly has respect and appreciation to her direct under which is a man; and her decision was denied by her superiors which are men with good reasons, even she admits it: "this is a hunch" she says, and she later explains the reasoning of her hunch with "this is how I'd do it" Reply: "well when you have more data and a bigger picture come back to me and we'll discuss it" which is understandable (albeit frustrating when it happens to you and you later end up right)

Unfortunately in legends, the Empire was discriminatory towards females, seeing them as just above aliens in the hierarchy in regards to imperial institutions - Admiral Natasi Daala and Major General Corvae from legend being examples. However, the episode released and Dedra isn’t a girl boss. I assume that was simply what the actress saw her as, and not as how the character is portrayed.

I also like the dynamic between Dedra and her assistant with whom they clearly respect and appreciate each other. So is Dedra Meero the strong female character? I think you get the girlboss vibes from the actress rather than the character: Denise remarked on the fact that the incompetent coworkers are men, but the character Dedra herself in the show never shows belief that men per se are all incompetent. I think Dedra isn't caught in any female vs male bossying match, she simply is there to be capable and wants to work with capable people. She in fact appreciates her attendant, Heert, who is a competent officer.
