At least u'll study. Almost all immigrants comming here doesn't bother about learning our Official language. They just don't care. It's sad but it's the true. Nuyorican Spanish is related to that language. These are non-white, Hispanic, Latin with Latin English accents, Nuyoricans being that too, as are Italians, French and Germans. Spaniards are white with Penelope Cruz English accents.

A lot of people who are going to Catalonia who only speak Castillian (Spanish) in addition to English ask if only speaking Castillian (Spanish) is sufficient. I don't speak Castillian (I want to learn it someday), but I speak some Catalan (in addition to English, German and some Italian). I can understand a lot of (sometimes all of it, depending on the context) Castillian (Spanish), but I don't speak it (I know some words). Would I "survive" with only Catalan (in addition to English) if a went on vacation to Catalonia? What about Valencia?

English would be enough for the beach or shops, but if you don't speak spanish i would Tell you that if you want speak catalan try that only with Young people or people un shops (again) because for some reasons the old people os usually hard to be understanble and for some Politic problems people don't want to speak catalan, so... What i recommend you,i recommend you speak always un english, in Valencia or Catalonia use the catalan for name of places, hey, remember that those catalan have some diferent words, and the ladst advice is, leaen at least basic words un spanish, our country is nice, but our problem are the languages. Depending on where you go and who you speak to will determine whether they speak more Catalan or Spanish. If you only speak and understand Catalan you may find that there are people that can’t speak it. Even so, I am pretty sure you can only use Catalan when travelling through Catalonia. If someone doesn’t understand you or doesn’t speak Catalan, there will be someone close by that does. It’s likely that you will find yourself in a situation that when you start speaking in Catalan, the other person, when they realize you’re a tourist or not from those parts, will change to Spanish. It’s a bad habit that many of us have and it doesn’t help those who come to Catalonia to practice the language. Advice: keep speaking in Catalan and, if necessary, ask them politely to not change into Spanish because you don’t know enough of the language. English is useful for the tourist places but the level of English further away from these big tourist areas is low. Regarding Valencia, I would say that a person who speaks only Catalan or Valencian would face problems not only because of the fact that in Valencia there are a lot of people who only speak Spanish but also depending on where you go, there will be people who don’t want to understand you and as a result we find ourselves at a bit of a dead-end. On the other I would say that as a tourist who speaks Valencian of Catalan, you won’t have any problems since the little that you can speak will be more than enough to be able to communicate and fingers crossed you won’t find yourself in the aforementioned problem. There will definitely be someone there who is proud to speak Valencian!
