My choir teacher made us sing this in 7th grade and everyone loved it. The staff kept telling her not to, but once they heard the drama, they wanted us to sing it again. She even had some people dress up in a black robe and walk down the aisle with a lantern to give some extra dramatic flair. It was so hard not to smile while watching the people go down the aisles and watch the audience's face turn. I think they thought, "What the heck is going on is this a cult?"

The wind ensemble I was in was supposed to play two movements of a thirteen-movement arrangement of this for Festival my senior year of high school. That quickly morphed into playing all thirteen for the spring concert--and 'O Fortuna' at graduation, which the teacher said he'd been previously asked not to do again on pain of being fired (pretty sure he was only half-serious about that bit). Best year of band ever.
