If you want to see real Gladiators: They still exists (in Pula, Croatia for example) and fights against other gladiator schools in Europe. They are real, no costumes but real heavy iron armor and weapons, the only different to the ancient rome is that the weapons are not lethal. Just take a look in the net.

As a trumpet player I am in awe of this incredible performance. 500 brass players? Good grief. The logistics of this performance are mind boggling. I wish I could have been part of this glorious performance. As a child, I saw the movie when it was released in a movie theater. Of course I had to own the soundtrack. I wore out the LP!

I was in my high school band in the 70s, and we played this at a "concert in the park". The location was Godwin Park in the Meyerland section on Houston. We were the Westbury High School band, and the director was Leslie Munson.

A magnificent performance both aurally and visually. This was the way this grand music was meant to be played. John Williams couldn't hold a candle to this, or for that matter, to any of the rest of the Ben Hur soundtrack. It, along with the Lawrence of Arabia soundtrack , represents the pinnacle of movie music compositions of all time. In my humble opinion.

Made me feel like I was in Rome at the Chariot Races! Judah Ben-Hur or Young Arias, was the champion of the Roman Races!!!! I love the soundtrack to movie Ben-Hur. Still my all time favorite movie. It's so rich because of the finest acting ever! The music is non match-able with anything historical ever did in a movie based on Jews and Romans.
