Phenominal! Watts is so blessed! Such a visionary and fully committed to communicating the music! Praise God!!!

I saw him play this piece twice, 1980 and 2006. I interviewed him about both Brahms concerti in 1981. The difference between the two performances--a younger man entering the prime of his career and an older maestro entering the winter of his career and having experienced physical and perhaps neurological challenges--stood out to me. The sensitivity and maturity and peace that came from that 2006 performance was evident. This performance is even more nuanced and mature. I miss his presence on this earth a great deal, and I am thankful that he dwelt among us for a time and I got to know him a little. Thank you for this memory!

Lovely comment. I hear your sadness and feel it as well. Older, I still see the 16-year-old striding across the stage!

What a beautiful and powerful performance. Andre really communicates. So touching. The orchestra and conductor are first class as well. I am sure I will come back to enjoy this video, again and again. Bravo.

Watts has a glorious tone and is not nearly as appreciated as he should be. His Beethoven op 111 is one of , if not, the best.

This is incredible. AND on a Yamaha. It was Richter's choice, too

Andre Watts has matured into one the greatest concert performers in the world. I will be searching for his next concert.

Marc Dozier You will be searching for a while. He does not play that often anymore. Plus, he was recently diagnosed with prostate cancer, however hopefully he will have a full recovery

@@99Grigor Yes, you have given me information that I was not aware of, but during his youthful days he was incomparable. There is a recording of the Haydn sonata in Eb major and the Liszt-Paganini-Etude in Eb major (the octave study). They are incredible.

Altre versioni valide di questo concerto su KZbin sono quella di Freire e Pollini.
