In the UK bailiffs are really like this, if you leave your door open they came come into your house and take what ever they see and the law protects them. If you don't let them in they can't do anything. I had a friend who left his garage door open and they at 5am in the morning and took his car out of his garage and put it into a pound for a $100 parking ticket. Most debts are bought by private companies and they will do anything to scare a person to paying the debt so they make money on the debt, so they will try and take the biggest or most inconvenient thing to force the person to pay.

Yep. "Peaceful entry" means basically not breaking in - and once they're in and if you call the police, the police will normally back them up every single time. To be honest, I'm probably thinking of a High Court Writ. And once they come in, anything on the property is free for grabs, except if.... Actually... in Supercell, I'm sure the kid's phone's on contract. If they can't prove it on the spot The bailiffs can seize the phone if the kid can't prove it, but they hold it for 7 days and so the mum can produce the receipts and claim the phone back. 04:36 LUPAAAA.... yep, that's the tactic. Can't remember the debt but if it was really big, a phone isn't gonna make a difference. However bailiffs use it as a tactic to make people panic and pull funds out. And like Sheera mentioned, it worked. To Yoshi's point, they can either take cash or seize goods in order to auction off. Yes, fellow UK people.... I am a fan of _"Can't Pay, Take it Away"_. @@hanaomer4419 from what I've seen, bailiffs are normally body-cams for this type of thing, including recording their entry. Not claiming to be a lawyer myself but... lockpicking your way into a property is *illegal* entry. That's not a civil manner, but a criminal matter. And a lockpicking issue wouldn't be something exclusive to bailiffs. People simply being able to lockpick their way into a house and then place the onus on the homeowner to prove it would be a massive topical issue, as it'd be something that every burglar would be doing. For a business like a debt collection agency, criminal charges would be a massive issue, hence the bodycams.

You should never give a bailiff cash bc there's no real record of it unless you're filming them so if they say you didn't give them anything, they'll get away with it and you'll still owe the full amount. A lot of bailiffs are conmen, especially ones who just barge into your house like that which isn't technically legal in the UK.
